Ever wanted to make a map, but not have a place to start? Didn't want to have to settle for building off standard Minecraft terrain? The flat-world type not what you need? Then look no further than here, a large and growing collection of template maps ranging in materials and height. All of these map also have the unique advantage of having their weather disabled, meaning you won't have the standard annoyances that rain and snow bring (If you do want weather, read lower).
If you can't find a map type that you want, feel free to ask and I will post it as soon as possible. Just let it be noted that the time it takes for me to make it may range from 20 minutes to a week.
About These Maps:
- 1024x1024 in size (that's 64x64 chunks, 4096 in total)
- All have the seed "0"
- All have weather disabled (unless you want to wait more than a year straight for rain)
- At the edges are bedrock walls from level 0-128
- Have a single layer of bedrock at level 0
- All FilledMaps have bedrock roofs
Types of Maps:
- Flat Maps, 1-64 of whatever material specified
- Filled Maps, 1-127 of whatever material specified, with a bedrock roof
- Void Map, 0-128 of air, with a glass platform to spawn on
Currently available for download:
- Stone (Flat and Filled)
- Dirt (Flat and Filled)
- Netherrack (Flat and Filled)
- Sand (Flat and Filled)
- Sandstone (Flat and Filled)
- Bedrock (Filled)
- Void (Empty)
Regarding credit given for using these maps:
I made these so it's easier for people to have a place to start creating a map. It's your choice whether to credit me or not, but I would urge you to at least point to this thread so that other people may find these maps, and maybe get a start to something amazing.
Want weather?
If you want your map to have weather enabled, simply download a mod such as Single Player Commands or TooManyItems and use it to manually enable weather. Once doing so, weather patterns will revert to how they naturally occur.
Can't see a map you need?
If you don't see a map here that suits your need, feel free to request one based on the following criteria:
-Height of map
-Material (Can also request layers)
-Weather (disabled, always on)
Be aware that I might not have the time to immediately make it and post it, but I will post it here and message you when it's done.
To Do and Plans:
-Cobblestone Maps
-Grass Map
-Mycelium Map
-Soul Sand Map
-Water Maps
-Lava Maps
-Stone Brick Maps
-Wool Maps
The ones that have "map" plural means I will be making a FlatMap and FilledMap (for example, it wouldn't make sense to have a grass layer on top, and then a bedrock roof). Also added a bit more info and cleaned some parts up.
I've been thinking some things over, and I'm wondering how the idea of biome-template maps sounds. They would be a large (probably 1024x1024) are of custom made biomes, such as a giant desert, snowy mountain range, ocean with islands, thick jungle, etc. Would anyone be interested in this kind of thing, or would I just be wasting my time?
