I can't make a successful cobblestone generator. The lava always turns into obsidian. Please help me.
You're putting the lava and water blocks too close together. Try to keep them at least three blocks apart. It helps to put a temporary block between the two before you actually put the source blocks down, like so:
L . . X . . W
L=Lava, W=Water, X=whatever. Dig a trench 5-7 squares long, place the "whatever" block in the middle. Place the source blocks at the end of the trench, then remove the "whatever" block. That should get you started.
Dave 10246:
I was born on a far far planet called ''Lorien'' got invaded by some dumb aliens called ''Mogadorian'' so i had to leave the planet and leaved everyone, i moved to a small rock on space that humans call ''Pluto'' and lived there, so from beeing a Lorien i became a Plutoniam i guess, Im planning on moving to ''Europa'', a moon from a planet that humans call ''Saturn'' to visit my old alien friends from there, after that i might move to ''Mars'' to find my other Alien buddies! and maybe to earth so yea... thats my story... What is yours?
See, I'm a guy who never thought he'd like Minecraft. Until my kids got into it, I thought it was just a digital set of building blocks. My first impression of the game held no appeal for me. When I got into the game, and realized it had a survival mode and wasn't always just about building stuff for the sake of building stuff, I came to really enjoy it. I actually cut my teeth on the Hardcore SMP server with but one life a month. That pressure of staying alive, at a time when I didn't even know enough to check map coordinates, was what I really enjoyed about the game. So, when I discovered Skyblock I was hooked!
Skyblock, to me, is this ultimate test of Minecraft skill and patience. You have to know your stuff with this map. You need to know (or learn!) advanced things like cobblestone generators, water elevators, and spawning mechanics. You have to be patient, purposeful, and diligent. It tests all of your Minecraft might, and offers no forgiveness in the process. Oh, but the end result! When you've built this sprawling and functional skyblock from essentially a blank slate, it offers a level of satisfaction that you will not find in many other games. Noobcrew, I salute you!
My favorite version is this 2.1, with the two islands and nether. I feel it's got an almost perfect difficulty curve to it, if that makes sense. If there's one real complaint I have, it is that things don't seem to freeze anymore. I like the pressure of making sure water doesn't freeze, unlike a lot of folks who seem to prefer avoiding that particular pain in the neck. From what I gather, it looks like after some Minecraft update the map building rules changed and now the default biome is Extreme Hills? I do prefer the Ice Plains; not only is the water freezing issue a desirable challenge for me, but I feel the snow adds to the ambience as well.
I've come across a few different ways to change the biome to something non-snowy, but can we get a version of this with the full Ice Plains biome again?
And if you do happen to do a new version of this, I might recommend a semi-challenging way for people to acquire more dirt. If one were to, say, put a floating gravel island in the nether, it would present a similar challenge to the sand island in the overworld, by having to create a platform to catch the gravel. Additionally, if you combine gravel with regular dirt to make coarse dirt blocks, you can ho that out and get regular dirt blocks. In this way, you could add extras without simply handing them to us. And I think that's the important thing to consider whenever someone tries to improve on this map; it IS a challenge map, and the challenges are what make it so epic.
Otherwise, here's to still playing Skyblock in 2018 with Minecraftv1.13 on the horizon!
To any of those unsusccessfully trying to download Skyblock 1.0 to 2.1, kindly refer to page 283, where Noobcrew has posted new MediaFire download links to almost all versions.
Now, the astute reader might have noticed the word 'almost' in front of 'all'. I didn't just place it there as decoration, for there do not seem to be any (working) download links to the first versions of Skyblock 1.0 and 1.1, found under the spoiler 'old downloads' within the original post.
If there is anybody who knows where these can be obtained, do kindly let me know, as I should love to try out the very first iteration of this classic survival map in Beta 1.7.3.
Thank you for your reply. Though mine might be a bit late, I do think that, for the sake of clarity, I ought to point out that I am afraid there might have been a misunderstanding. By the 'first versions' of Skyblock 1.0 and 1.1, I did not mean the ones provided by the MediaFire links - those are the 'second versions'.
The first versions of 1.0 and 1.1 both contained sand as a central layer of the island, and appear to have originally been designed for Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 at the latest, judging by the look of the chest. You can find the pictures under the third spoiler in the long section comprised of the same at the end of the original post. Unfortunately, the only available links appear to be the broken AdFly-links.
Thank you for suggesting browsing other sites, such as minecraftmaps.com. Unfortunately, neither this nor skyblock.net, which I have also tried, contain download links to the versions in question.
As I stated in my previous post, I should appreciate it if anybody could point me in the right direction towards obtaining these files.
Why dont you post those Mediafire link on your OP and maybe stop people from having to try and use the clickfest malicious infested adfly links that are still on there. Its not cool man cos a lot of those sites ask you to open your PC to this and that, not very responsible or public spirited aye.
