I have no idea sadly, perhaps using mcedit would help. Since you can fill a designated area with a single type of block, you can select an area for a vein and replace whatever's there with coal iron etc. Other than that, ,dk but this map really caught my interest so please add a post when you've added the pumpkins and I'll play it :smile.gif:
Yeah, I've thought about that. Except I really have no idea how to use MCEdit. I've used it, but when I try to load it in minecraft itself, it just looks like messed up chunks.
I'm about to upload the pumpkin version of this map. I also added a cave to the 5th square. I also moved the gravel from the 5th square to the 4th square.
DarkGhost13 - That sucks quite a bit. I hate it when the shift key fails.
I wish I could figure out how to use the multiquote thing.
Alright, I finished the map. As my post above says, I added/moved:
Pumpkins on the 4th square (91 of them)
A cave on the 5th square
Moved the gravel from the 5th square to the 4th
One piece of grass on the first square pointing north so you know where to go
Made cobweb obtainable in the cave on the 5th square (327 of them)
I probably did more, but I can't remember. Here are some pictures of the 4th and 5th square since those are the only things that changed. The 1st square isn't really important.
I kind of realized that you can't get any nether material. I can't think of a good way to fix this, so I came up with a new rule:
3. You can go to the nether, but you can't make another portal in the nether. You can only create one portal, and you can only use that portal. Teleportation would be unfair.
To be honest, this map is awesome. This seems original to me. One problem I have is that when I build to the other squares, I sometimes accidently fall into the void and die. Once, I fell in with all my saplings and then I was screwed. It would be nice if there was an emergency chest. Maybe with some saplings. At least 1 sapling would be good for an emergency chest. It's all I would need for an emergency chest. :happy.gif: I made some epic looking buildings. Basically, it's a normal cobblestone house, but on top is the special part. It looks like ruins and part of a colosseum and a castle.

That's good to hear. And yeah, I kind of expected some people to have that problem. I don't see the need for an emergency chest, though. You can just make a chest of your own, and put one sapling in it. But yeah, the shift key failing is kind of a pain. There isn't anything you can do to stop it, really.
That house sounds pretty awesome, though. My houses on that map end up having explosions all over them since I never finish one part of the wall or something.
Sorry for the double post, but this is sort of important.
I finally made veins of ores. There aren't just single blocks of ores in random places anymore. I wanna keep most of this secret, cause giving everything away is no fun. Here's a changelog of what I did (Yeah, right after I say I wanna keep things secret. I mean I'm not gonna tell you where the secret things are.):
Added one cave to each square. Each cave has cobweb in them too.
Added a sphere of one ore in each square. The first square has two spheres. One is coal, and one is iron. The ores in the sphere are obviously the same as the ores that are in that square. They're underground, if you didn't know.
Added one layer of snow blocks beneath the snow on the third square.
Added a huge patch of pumpkins on the 4th square.
Added two new lava sources on the surface of the 5th square.
Moved the mushroom sphere in the 4th square somewhere else by mistake.
Moved the lava sphere in the third square somewhere else by mistake too.
Does anybody have any other suggestions? I'm thinking I could maybe replace all of the stone in the 6th square with sandstone. That might work. Or I could possibly replace all of the stone in the third square with snow blocks.
Next, I think I'm gonna make a new direction to build at the very end. It will be a bonus square, and it has a bedrock castle built into it maybe with chests, and monster spawners. At the very bottom of it, there will be something very exciting. I might do that.
Well, I suppose if all of these replies are just updates, then it probably won't be a problem. I think I'm gonna start replying once I have a new update, since it's good to make it clear once a new update is out. This post also has future plans in it.
So anyhow, this update isn't too big. All I did was add another tree to each square that has a tree for a higher rate of getting saplings. People have been complaining about not getting saplings sometimes, so this should fix the problem. So, here's the new download link, and some pictures:
I think in the next update, I'll be adding sponges. Sponges aren't really used for anything, but they could be useful. Probably the only use for them is decoration. I'll add a huge patch of them in the pond on the 6th square. I might actually make a new water source on one of the other squares, since it takes forever to get to the 6th square. Water is used for many important things.
I also didn't know one small, little thing. You can't get cobweb by breaking it. It gives you string. You almost have an unlimited supply of string in those caves, so I'm not sure what to do about that. I might add cobweb in the chests in the dungeons. Not sure.
Also, one more thing. I'm gonna be adding an informational version of this map. The informational version would have the same size link as the main one, and will be right below it. The informational version will have signs on the south side of each square, telling you what is in the square, and other important things.
ONE MOOOORE thing. I'd like to see what you guys have done to the map. There are many possibilites, and some people are probably more creative than me.
ONE MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE a little more important thing. Like I've made obvious, I'm not gonna be telling anyone where the secret things are. The secret 'things' include:
Lava sphere in 3rd square
Mushroom sphere in 4th square
A sphere of one type of ore in each square (two types of spheres in the first one)
So, the thing is.. The only way it will be possible to know exactly where those are, is if someone posts coordinates of where they are. Then I'll post your name on this thread and the coordinates you mentioned. Of course, people will probably cheat. I don't really care. But please, just don't cheat.
Imageshack. Works quite nicely, and you don't need an account. If you upload a photo and give the url to it on the forums, just put at the end of it. You probably already knew that.
Other sights work just as well, though. Such as photobucket, and some other ones I can't remember the name of.
looks epic :biggrin.gif: cant wait for nether square and sponges :biggrin.gif: just to say, is there any tall grass for seeds >.> oh and you forgot block 36 xDxDxDxDxD (if ju dont know wut dat is, go here http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Technical_blocks#Block_36
Thanks. Nah, I didn't forgot the tall grass. The way you get seeds, is you kill a skeleton, collect a bone, craft bonemeal, and right click on grass. Then you can get tall grass. I guess if anybody else wanted to, I could add tall grass naturally, though.
A little OT, but I have minecraft opened in the inventory in your map, i waiting for nite 2 be over, im in a 1x2 hole >.>
BTW, i cant find off of the first square D: can u plz tell me which side in quards? thx :biggrin.gif:
Always build in the direction the clouds are going.
Added 3 nether squares. To get to the nether squares, you have to build west every two squares. Example: There first nether square is to the west of the second square. Then once you go to the third normal square, there won't be anything. Then once you get to the 4th, there will be one to the west. So there is a nether square to the west of the 2nd, 4th, and 6th squares.
Removed small gaps that you can fall through at the bottom of the first square
Added the informational version
Added ice to the third square, for a source of water, or for any other uses.
Here are the signs you'll find once you start at the beginning of the map.
You will be greeted with a series of signs one the southern side of each square.
As you can see here, there are three squares in a weird pattern. It's pretty obvious that one of them is a nether square. This shows that you need to build west to get to it. The normal squares obviously continue northwards.
The first nether square.
The second nether square. You'll notice that the nether squares gain resources each time.
And the final nether square. I'm pretty proud of what I did with the glowstone. :tongue.gif:
The ice on the third square. As you can see, it has a wall of snow around it. I just thought that would look cool.
This is what you'll find at the very end of the map, in front of the huge mass of grass. I've already mentioned this, but I wanted to get a close up of it. It's just a normally generated world after the huge floating square of grass.
And here are the download links. As I said, there's an informational version, and the normal version with no signs at all.
I'll be updating this map as soon as possible. Singleplayer commands isn't gonna come out till 1.9, so I'll have to wait for that. I could do it without singleplayer commands, but that would just be annoying.
I'll be adding probably all of the new stuff you can get, such as Mushrooms, those new cracked blocks, and other stuff. I don't really know what to add, and how to add it to the squares. Even though nobody probably cares, suggestions would be cool. They're also encouraging.
Singleplayer commands is out for 1.8. Since animals don't spawn the same way they used to, I think I'm gonna be adding mob spawners that spawn animals. I don't really know if that will work, but I really hope it does. If it doesn't, I really don't know what to do.
The next update is gonna add lots and lots of stuff. Possibly even a stronghold. I'll see what I can do. Also, I believe I'm going to get rid of the bedrock walls. They're kind of useless, and just annoying. It would be more fun like this anyways.
i love the idea but at the beginning i read where everthing was on the map, so now i dont really have that feeling of adventure, like "OOOoo i wounder whats on this square!" i think you should fix that :wink.gif:

Yeah, I guess. That's probably actually a better idea. I'll fix that now.
I hope to get the yogscast to do this map. It will be hard, but I think they will like it if they ever play it. If I get this popular enough, maybe I'll have a chance. Like I said, tell me anything wrong with the map, or any additions you would like in it. Even if you don't wanna play the map, anything could help.

And I'm planning on building a map too but mc edit really scares me. I hope I can make it work fine :/

Thank you. No, I don't think so at least. I don't see the need for a second map. I wouldn't have any ideas for a second map at all.

I probably did even more, but I forgot. I did quite a bit of stuff, but that's basically the important things. Here's a video of the map now:

--- Changelog ---
Removed bedrock walls on every square
Added mob spawners (each square has a different animal spawner).
Added a new biome
Fixed something on the 6th square (trying to keep everything secret here)
Added an NPC village to one of the squares
Some minor fixes
That's basically it, I think. Now for the download link:
