Hey vahncruz! Great map! Really is a faithful recreation of Riven in Minecraft. However, there were a few issues I found playing it and would like for you to hear. First, the puzzle of the 25 stones going to the Moiety age. I found this puzzle confusing and frustrating with the lack of numbered signs on the stones to tell me which is which. I have played Riven and know that 1 is the fish, 2 is the beetle, 3 is the frog, 4 is the sunner, and 5 is the whark, but was unable to match these to any of the stones in the puzzle. I ended up mining the block that was holding me back and continuing. Second, Catherines prison. For the same reason as above, I also was confused with this puzzle? Was there a code or something in Gehn's age like in the real game? I couldn't find it if there was. Third, I thought the ending was kind of anticlimatic. Why couldn't "Catherine" (villager) be standing in her prison with signs narrating what was in the book "Catherine's quotes?" How did she even get out of the prison to save the Moeity when it was all locked up? Lastly, the survey room on Map Island and the frog trap. Was there something I was supposed to do here? I couldn't see anything to do so I left. Also, on the frog trap, did the lever to the side do anything? All in all, great work and can't wait to play your Myst map!
Hey, vahncruz, I know it's been years, but I only just now had the right combination of free time and Myst nostalgia to dig up a 1.4.7 installer and get this build of yours running.
And I am SO happy that I did.
This is an honestly beautiful transposition of Riven into Minecraft. The texture pack is inspired, the terrain and structures are dutifully replicated, and this project was clearly a labor of love.
I can't imagine how long it must have taken to do. Everything is instantly recognizable and thoughtfully designed - when I reached my favorite spot in the game, that whark-shaped window in the cave passageway to the village, looking out at the sea, it was just so impressive to see how faithfully you kept everything.
I also want to say how grateful I am for the invisible blocks to keep players on the path, haha. I would hate to fall off of any of the cliffs or walkways!
Anyway, I hope this post finds you well, and I know that it can be really hard for niche projects like this to get the feedback and recognition they deserve.
This is simply stunning. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Wow, I haven't been on here in ages. Here is a late thank you to TonnikinGin for playing this old map. I have fond memories of making it and hoped you enjoyed it. Who knows, with all the Minecraft updates this map could have voice acting and proper puzzles if I decide to return to it. Sorry for the very late response!
Please pardon my post, Vahncruz, but I hope you might allow me to share the kickstarter news with any other Myst fans via your thread here. xoxoxo

*Sees Enderman, Pulls out Blaze Rod, and charges*
The guys behind the original Riven are doing a new game in Unreal Engine 4, same basic gameplay style (non violent/exploration/adventure/puzzle)
Fans of this map and Riven in general may appreciate this here project: http://www.starryexpanse.com/
