Welcome new contestants! Personally, Ive been procrastinating my builds for more than a week it seems lol, Hopefully I'll get something done this weekend.
I need some more partners for when the other ones are offline, personal stuff keep getting in the way, so far I have no progress... :dry.gif:

I need help growing my newly adopted dragon. If you have spare time, please, click on him. I want this egg/hatchling to grow very strong! Thanks in advance.
Hey everybody, I started my world for the Vanilla Challenge last night and I played for a few hours so I've made pretty good progress. I think I'm going to spend my first few days gathering materials before 1.8 comes out, and then I'll start to build.
I don't have a complete story or design, but here's a few things I have thought of: It's going to be semi open world, so you will be able to freerome. You will be able to break certain blocks in the map, and you will be able to craft tools to fight with and mine certain blocks.
I'll post some Screenshots when I'm further along, and maybe a video too.

Are simple mods like Shockah's Tooltip(tells you how many uses you have left on a tool), Minimaps, Freerun(wait, this is gonna be obsolete in 1.8... So I assume it's allowed), and possibly Risugami's Biosphere generator allowed? I like Vanilla, but I like neatness(Biosphere), knowing where I am at moment's glance(Minimap, W/O Xray, noting that), and being aware of how many uses I have left, to use things wisely, as Survival maps have broken me of my wastey tool using ways.

I would say that all of those mods you listed are all out of bounds. Sorry!
They all give you a slight advantage.
Biosphere generator is absolutely definitely not allowed.
The default UI gives you a clue at the number of uses with the little green bar.
The clouds, compass, in-game map, and your wits will have to suffice for positioning.
I don't know what Freerun is, so assume it's NOT allowed :wink.gif:
hello everyone (:
very interesting challenge, I'm ready to give it a try.
I was creating my custom adventure map few months ago, but never finished it because I lost interest. This seems like a perfect opportunity to start something fresh and new. I only wish I would have found this thread sooner (:
@rsmalec and Fellonius the Wizard
Thanks for a warm welcome guys! <3 :smile.gif:
I have one question, now that I started working on this map. I have this idea about creating adventure map with portals being most important part in it. Some would lead to nether, some would be long time without of power, just standing there all glorious, waiting to be discovered, with tons of traps ahead.
The rules state that I can't use mods for this map, and I'm not, but what if I would include Aether portals made out of glow stone? so if the player has Aether mod installed, they could activate them. I will not use this mod for my creation, and activating this portal would be completely optional.
I've decided to join this challenge as well. It will be the first adventure-style map I've made, and the first map where I'll have completed any buildings larger than the simplest house (my preference is to dig into a hillside and live mostly like a dwarf or gnome with a mine entrance in the back room, because it's easier and safer than building out in the open).
Starting tonight, I'll have about two and a half weeks to work on it (in my free time), so if anything's unfinished, I'm sorry and apologizing ahead of time.
This'll be awesome. :smile.gif:

"I dunno, ZK, that sounds pretty awesome..." "Well then, let's get awesome!"

That IS awesome.
Best of luck to you!
My advice... build on what you know. If you are more comfortable with simple houses dug into hillsides, incorporate that into your adventure! :smile.gif:

Actually, I tend to build some pretty nice structures when I'm doing peaceful co-op stuff, and I like to put together skyways if I have to travel long distances across dangerous terrain. This is going to be very interesting to do, I think.
Also, my plan is to hide my living space as an Easter egg for the player, before distributing the map. :smile.gif:
I'm like you, no open buildings unless I'm on Peaceful. Dwarfen adventuring would be a nice story. You are very welcome and we all hope to see you finish.
2½ weeks? The rest of us have all of october as well. That's why I'm able to do other projects too, (many un-Minecraft-y). :cool.gif:
*facepalm* Right. November comes after October. That'll give me six and a half weeks, then. I guess that means I actually do have time to collect the materials I'll need!

I just realized, the ideas I have for an adventure map... well, I can't do them under the VANILLA challenge rules. I'm going to have to drop out. On the other hand, I'm going to upgrade to 1.8 tonight, and start working out my ideas. I hope to have some sketches worked up soon!

Even though it's not a mod, no using 1.8 creative mode. Sorry folks!
