how about a video :biggrin.gif: we are considering making it into a series and we really like this map and it seems popular so it would be a great place to start!
I'd love to hear anyone's feedback or comments about the 2.0 expansion. Whether you've played an earlier version or not, what are your thoughts on the latest additions to the park? A lot of previous user comments helped create/inspire the new rides, so I'd definitely welcome your ideas for the next expansion. Thanks!
Funland v2.0 (Recreation 10/10):
”The Face Melter” was way too fast! Even if it's only crappy lava you're going to see, you don't have a chance. Try to make the speed lower at times, power rails are great without having to overdo them... ”The Exterminator” should not be used by someone with a head-ache or with epilepsy. It got me wondering, how long is each coaster? Maybe there's some statistics house somewhere. And a nice map, so it's easier to find things.
Fantastic review! Thanks for the input! I love that at FunLand you don't have to stand in line for anything. :smile.gif:
Great point about rides that are "too fast being too fast to enjoy, I should be able to tweak that a bit. It's something akin to trying to find the perfect balance... too many boosters and the ride isn't enjoyable, too few and the cart might get stuck halfway through the ride, which is a big no-no. The first few versions of FunLand had some rides that at first worked fine, but for some reason, eventually didn't seem to have enough power.. I don't know if Notch is tweaking cart speed/momentum variables in his updates.
I'll definitely look into slowing down the facemelter a bit, and I LOVE the idea of a statistics room that includes ride times, etc.
Have you poked around yet to find any of the secret areas? I think they add a fun little narrative to the park... there are at least 5 that I can think of. All hidden throughout the park, no need to destroy any blocks, just poking around behind the scenes.
Several people have uploaded some great and enjoyable reviews and walk-throughs of Funland on Youtube. I thought you might enjoy checking them out.

"Screwin' Around in FunLand" by Tanzfete - kind of painful to watch my beautiful map overrun by animals and then by TNT, but it looks like this crew was having a blast! I wouldn't call it a review or walkthrough, more like a playful desecration.
just added a new update for FunLand, should make the map easier for first time users (signage, instructions, etc.). Plus, no more blocked buttons! If you plan on keeping the map for awhile, I suggest downloading the latest version (2.01) to avoid annoying bugs. The link is in the first post.
TodoList:
#1Go to reastraunt.
#2Drink Milk.
#3Aquire lava in bucket.
#4Pour bucket on pirates ship.
Awesome Map totaly worth the few seconds it takes to install.
This is just... epic. For some reason it works really well with a Sonic the Hedgehog texture pack. 0.o
Also, moar epicness: On the Arctic Wolf ride, there was an actual wolf barking in the ride. Seems it doesn't only attract visitors
Really glad you liked it! :smile.gif: Actually, on the Arctic Wolf ride there are a couple wolf spawners... the idea was that they'd help create the ambiance. Also, in one of the wolf pens there's a sheep spawner in case they get hungry... if you catch the ride right, you can be coasting by as they growl and attack... adds a chilling thrill to the experience.
this is why it's important to keep your hands and feet inside the cart at all times, heheh.
I've just started to explore the land, so there are not many remarks I could make yet. Just one thing: I really like the witty words on the wooden signs. But sometimes it is very dark (such as in the pyramid tomb), I have to lit up a torch to read.
Oh btw I've installed the map on my server and I'm going to invite all my friends who are playing Minecraft to join the fun! If any of you likes to come and tests it out yourself, just PM me and I'll PM you back the IP. I think I'll keep the map for a few days. Anyway thanks for the effort! It's truly amazing! :happy.gif:
Found 3 secret places so far: the maintaining tunnel, VIP room and employee's break room. The break room is kinda bugged I think? I could see where the door is but there's a fence which blocks the way..., and there are blocks which separate the room into 2 parts, one part is the signs and the door, the other part is the chest and the seats. I need to make a big turn around the buildings to reach the other side if I don't destroy the blocks in the middle of the room.

Wow, not only did you find a secret area, but you found a secret area bug! In 2.0, I reversed the Bounce House to make the entrance and exit more intuitive and when I did, I caught the edge of that secret area along with it. Nice find, thanks for the bug fix! In 2.02, it'll be fixed right up! :smile.gif:
This is a pretty nice map. I think I've been through all of the rides (although I didn't look for the secrets), and it took me around an hour and half. By the end a few of them started to feel a little tedious, but most of the themed rides were still exciting - the underground ones especially. The other attractions weren't as amazing on their own but did build the atmosphere very well. I admit to grinning when I first hit the minecart in the archery range!
I had technical problems with a few of the rides, unfortunately. My cart slowed and stopped half way through the wolf ride and the 88 mph ride doesn't do anything special in the current version. I also gave up and restarted the save once after getting stuck/lost down the hole for several minutes. And while the individual rides are cool, the map as a whole is kinda ugly. Jagged wooden blocks sticking unsupported into the sky everywhere, yeah.
Most importantly though, FunLand ... is fun. The quick succession of different themed rides, the cute side attractions, the lighthearted signs, everything added up to happy relaxing times. It's not awe-inspiring or totally absorbing, but it's 100% worth it to chill for an hour or two.

Kind of like a real amusement park, no? Heh. I can imagine where it'd get tiresome if you were trying to be very thorough and ride everything. Luckily there's a discount at the park for a multi-day pass.

Sorry to hear that! If you let me know a little more specifically where you slowed down, I'll make sure to fix it in the next update.

That's a legit evaluation of the park's overall look. When I first made the map, I had the idea to keep it as compact as possible so people could save the schematic and import it into their own worlds. Unfortunately as the park grew and that became unrealistic, it was hard to reshape the central parts to make them more roomy. Good eye for the aesthetic!

Thanks a bunch for the review, I appreciate your comments and insight!
New version now out...version 2.03 - tweaked the entrance to battleship, moved the first aide station (who wants to see that first? its unnerving), added way-finding signage.
as always leave your comments and reviews to help build the buzz. what's your favorite ride in FunLand?
found the FUNLAND INC. ADMINISTRAITIVE OFFICES! 6 to go.
also have a idea for a ride: piston palace. while the rider goes trough, pistons pistons mess with the ride. not actually moving the track, but making the track suddenly veer off to a track heading to a wall, and pistons opening it at the last second.
Had fun recording footage for a trailer. Got kinda carried away by the rides and instead of using several videos of my flying over the place with f1 and f8, i just got several vids of me and my friend going on several coasters. Video is uploading now. I'll send a link when its done. PS: Its ok if you dont want to feature it, as this wasnt really one of my "Best" trailers.
