After playing through over 85 custom maps and supporting my 6+ maps, I wanted to share my opinion on the necessary information that should be presented to the player in your list of RULES:
Are there any required or recommended mods or texture packs?
Can the player break/mine blocks? Are there any exceptions (e.g. you can break clay and torches, you can break blocks that YOU placed, etc...)
Is the player allowed to craft items? Are there any restrictions (e.g. you can only craft what fits in your 2x2 inventory window.
Can the player place blocks? Are there any restrictions (e.g. you can only place blocks to repair bridges damaged by creepers)
What is the required or recommended difficulty setting?
What items/method are used for "scoring"? And are there restrictions (e.g. do not count any gold ingots obtained from random dungeon chests or by breaking gold blocks)
Is there a boundary (e.g. bedrock wall or lighted pylons) the player should stay within, or are they encouraged to explore for hidden areas?
Are there any rules about playing during daylight vs. nighttime hours?
Is this map intended for SINGLE or MULTIPLAYER, or BOTH?
Are there any other unique rules for your map (e.g. Don't read note 4 until after you have found the golden sword)
What other rules have you found in the maps that you've played/made? Discuss!

In the latest version of Eldmorang Alpha I introduced an unusual rule, at least for the Adventure genre... since glowstone dust is the score, the player is allowed to craft glowstone blocks, either for use as a light source or to help with jumping puzzles.
What other rules have you found in the maps that you've played/made? Discuss!
RULE: You can place redstone torches ONLY on top of single fence posts. And once placed, you cannot pick them back up again.
