Foreword
This was an experiment inspired by Captain Sparklez recent "Redstone for Dummies" video.
I've never seen this mechanic used in a custom map.
The basic 'survival' part of this map is only going to be as difficult as any random seed. However... there is a timer counting down in this map, and if the timer gets to zero, you lose. You can add more time to the timer, but not diffuse it.
The Story
After completing countless adventures and amassing riches, you receive a letter from your Grandmother. It seems she wrote the letter under duress. She has been taken hostage in the basement of her cottage, by a man seeking revenge upon you. You rush to her cottage to find it has been rigged with explosives and multiple triggers. Attempting to disarm any of the bombs will set off the charges. You have approximately 4 minutes left on the timer when you reach the area.
Rules
- Survive. You can mine/craft/place any blocks you like. And while you're doing that...
- Don't attempt to disarm the bombs, which means...
- No digging under the house or through the walls, and...
- No removing/replacing water, and...
- If the house explodes, you LOSE
Maintaining the Timer
The house is rigged with 7 different triggers that all work on the same principle. Things you should avoid doing;
- Opening the cellar door
- Taking the record out of the jukebox
- Sleeping in Grandma's bed
- Opening either of the doors between the bedroom and kitchen
- Eating Grandma's cake
- Letting the furnace fire go out. Different materials burn at different rates. You have to keep it stocked with a combustible as well as a raw material. And don't forget to clear out the smelted item or the furnace may stop prematurely.
So that's it. Very simple. (how long can you resist seeing what happens if you do one of the above?)

Thank you for the feedback! I had fun with the idea, and blowing myself up about 15 times while trying to make this without SINGLE PLAYER COMMANDs. :wink.gif:
Players and map makers, please consider taking 3 SHORT surveys on Custom Adventure maps. These will help me (and other map makers) provide you with more enjoyable experiences.
This map is awesome to say the least, you have good ideas, and also, seeing that I am a noob at anything redstone, how does the water affect the trinitrotoluene(TnT)?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I have been playing Minecraft since beta came out, this game is great!

Water absorbs tnt blast. So i had to keep it from pooling around the tnt.
How it triggers the tnt... There is an inverted redstone wire that gets washed away when the water changes course. There are a lot of videos to explain how to control water. I just took it to another level.

Damn you forum only allowing two lines in the signature.
- Thank you slimes.

THANK YOU
Remember people... this was an experiment. 1 part "what not to do" and 1 part "keep the furnace cooking". :wink.gif:
Yes. That's the point. You have to constantly check it. Goes faster/slower depending what you have in the furnace.

It works in single and multiplayer.
Not sure what you mean by modloader.
I put the mod manually into minecraft.jar and it works for both single- and multiplayer (vanilla server) fine.
