I plan on doing weekly updates, like I have been so far. I wasted A LOT of time planning things out and coming up with puzzles/ideas so the next update should have a bunch of the WIP signs completed and some of those puzzles implemented. And I really want to finish up the fire chains and platforms and what not wherever I can. Finally, I'll have to run through the game once or twice and place items in chests and set up pies and rewards. This update was smaller than i hoped but I will really try to go all out for the next, which will hopefully come out on friday night or saturday. Cheers!
update postponed till next week :/ i might make updates biweekly just so that there's a significant amount of new material introduced in each one, since the game is pretty long to go through.
Good map but what are you supposed to do at the NES chamber?
Edit: never mind. Stupid "Code" lol
hehe, i guess you figured it out.
Thanks. Any input on how I can make the map GREAT or at least gooder is always appreciated. The map is still kind of a rough framework for what i'll be doing with it. The next update should include more puzzles and bonus areas, plus i'll make the Mario levels/gameplay more "fluent". Cheers!
I think you should add some torches at the platforming areas. And also what difficulty should this be played on?
yeah, that's one thing i've been working on. It should be better in the next version. But at the same time I actually want monsters to be able to spawn in some of the corridors and levels! And in one area, like where you have to jump through all those stacked fences to the first portal (before 3-1). The lack of light makes some of those jumps harder, as was intended.
Difficulty: whatever you want. It just changes the gameplay a bit.
--Peaceful-- if you want to do a straight up platformer/parkour/puzzle. Once I add in a lot more puzzles and challenges Peaceful mode should become more interesting.
--N/E/H-- if you want to play more of an adventure. This is where the darker areas in the platforming levels come in handy, spawning monsters randomly around and making it feel more 'alive' like a regular mario game. It's really up to you how hard you want to make the game. Areas where I definitely don't want monsters to spawn are always lit up completely.
892 downloads!!! almost 900!! a thrid of them from version 4 so that must be a good sign :biggrin.gif: also, does anyone know how to make the "spoiler/show", expandable windows in a post? i want to use those for v5 to clean up the page and save space. Cheers!
i just downloaded the newest version (v4) a few minutes ago and i start up the lvl. I see that I have tons of stuff and start on the airship. i see peach and she says to go to the anchor room but when i do, i set off a bunch of tnt (which i think is part of the plot) and then die and spawn at what seems to be the end of the game. I dunno if this is supposed to happen (and I highly doubt it is)so I was wondering if you can fix that of if it is just a glitch with the map itself so i will try downloading it again and see what happens

edit: yeah redownloading does nothing.
oh, i guess i messed up on the spawn. you should respawn where the boat was :/ lol, no one let me know. Anyway, you should start with some items like armor, some ladders, few beds, couple cakes, etc. some basics you might need since the map isn't finished. you shouldn't die when you raise the anchor. just make sure you back away from the doors!(meaning, walk past the anchor lever) Let me know if you keep dying, i haven't had a problem with that yet :?
EDIT: Hopefully, i have fixed the anchor room so that you shouldn't die as long as you stay in the anchor room until it's all over
games included so far (fully or still in progress, most are still in progress):
Super Mario Bros (NES)
Mario Wrecking Crew
Wario Land
Mario Bros (original)
Mario Clash
Mario Picross
Mario DDR
Luigi's Mansion
nice! over 100 downloads in about 24hrs! how about a single review then? :tongue.gif: gonna get started on the next version today, i'm guessing 2weeks eta.
bump...might take a break for a while and work on a different map. so the next update might be 3 or 4 weeks away. definitely gonna try to have all the mechanics worked out by then as well as the warp zones to world 5, 6, 7, and 8 .
Just finished playing, this deserves a 7/10 so far.
It would get a 7.5 with a corrected texpack for 1.7, and 8 or 9 if the levels didn't feel so empty. It's still good fun, but feels a bit long with such lack of action.
Adding a few villages here and there for breaks and finishing those side things (DDR etc.) would make this a must-have. Bookmarked and waiting for more. :smile.gif:
I HEAR YA!!! lol, that's why i recommend playing on something other than peaceful for now. to give it a little more action. That's also why I decided to start making the bonus areas and villages lol. because it felt so boring. This way each level will just feel like a short path to a new mini-game. and once i get all the mechanics working it should make a big difference as well. thanks for the feedback
