So I just watched Episode 13 of Vechs' dev commentary of Waking Up.
Then I went back and watched Episode 1. Ya'know, the part where he says he's going to try for a no-death run, or try to keep his death count under 10, or maybe just avoid silly deaths.
Then I went and watched Episode 13 again.
Heh heh heh. That map was a pain in the @$$ for me. I'm so glad that the creator is having trouble with it too.
Damn that troll was found quickly.
Oh and also, my main strategy for Waking Up (especially Helix Dephts and Boomer Castle [the castle part]) was lava bucket on the floor and a bridge over it, then taking out the spawner and placing torches. That works very good as long as the spawners are on the floor
€: only Zisteau would do that. Really. Simply doing an area isn't enough for him, he has to do it with style. Forced by inner madness!

Vechs, I just beat Lethamyr, Variant D on Hardcore. No deaths. Just wanted to say thank you for a great time and a wonderful challenge that made it well worth the effort.
Hey any one now whats taking vechs to to make infernal mines. About a two mounths ago he said he was around building the second intersection?
Legendary size map, so almost twice the size of a regular map, not to mention many other things getting in the way. I think he said that it will have 5 or 6 intersections, so the second one is about one third of the map complete.
I really want to see vechs try to make a CTM map that is almost impossible to beat unless you are vechs himself.
EDIT: Like, make it beatable if you prepare for like months, but make it hyper hostile.
But Vechs himself has a hard time beating maps that he himself has made. Plus, preparing for months? Just to have fun playing a CTM map? I'll set up a tree farm, enchanting area, food supply, etc., but I'm not going to waste months getting ready to breach an area.
I still wished they would change the way potions work from damage values to nbt-tags with id, lvl and duration, so we can have a potion that gives you good and bad effects. Like strenght 2 + nausea 6min, or Speed 5 + Protection 2 + Blindness for 3 min. These would be awesome. If you can deal with the negatives, you get the positives.
Also, poisoned weapons. Potion effects for 5 strikes.

I thought of this a while ago too - potion effects NEED to be like enchantments!

I really want to see vechs try to make a CTM map that is almost impossible to beat unless you are vechs himself.
Being Vechs himself means that the tier of people better than him (Etho, hypnotizd, Cilantrogamer, Psycho, myself) would have no trouble completing this then.
You guys are incorrect, the solution to Chuck Norris is Bruce Lee. Unfortuantely Bruce Lee is dead, so we have to use Zombie Bruce Lee. (Even deadlier!)

If you're aiming to make a truly near-impossible map, you need to hinder different playstyles as well. Counter the generic farm one and there's 70% gone. Counter the Zisteau playstyle and you've got 10% gone. Counter the rush playstyle and there's another 5% gone. Counter the tank playstyle (which is pretty much impossible) and there's another 5% gone. Counter speedrunning, (which you pretty much can't) and there's another 2% gone. Counter bucket on your head (impossible) and there's the rest gone.

LEt me guess, wither skele's? And yeah, getting rid of farming was one of my biggest nightmares in the original sea of flames back in the old 1.3
just curious, how hard is it to beat a wither skeleton carrying an iron sword if you have either a wood or stone sword? those could be great mid-bosses for my map...

Well, that was an exaple. and Hybran would be glad to have that potion, he could probably speedrun Legendary with like 5 of them
Yep. In one game of Dwarves Vs. Zombies, I played a spider, which gave me speed 10 for some reason. Couldn't see ****.
Even the FoV for speed 2 is sort of annoying for me, I prefer to be able to see all the dangers properly.
Speed VII potion would be awesome.
