Within a five chunk radius of spawn there are over 600000 silverfish. I am not exaggerating. I stopped counting at that point and exited out an deleted Kaizo 2.x as a Vechs failure. The maps get played for the challenge of solving problems and overcoming adversity while being entertained. Silverfish and that many of them are not entertaining. It's something I would expect from some juvenile wannabe CTM map maker. There is no new strategy. It's nonsense. 600000 silverfish immediatly around the start is just stupid.
he only puts sliverfish in some caverns
in lonely lava cavern he has some but not everywhere he has got a few in legacy of contempt and millions inside the illvern mines, starlight cavern and cavern of sky are safe from them. don't know about the twisting dark and intersection 3 yet.
did you actually encounter an issue with the silverfish, or did you just run the test? The silverfish, I assume, are just added to 'whitenoise' kind of areas that you shouldn't be in the first place. I've been watching an LP of Kaizo 2.0, and I haven't even seen a silverfish yet.
There are massive solid areas of them and as long as you're willing to be force fed a route you can avoid them. If however you want to say, cut a shortcut from the spawn to the victory monument in Kaizo 2.x, then you have no choice but to remove a couple of thousand silverfish just for a simple corridor.
There's countless other places too where leveling the floor or smoothing the path or cutting rail tunnels or a shortcut is desireable but because of the silverfish has become repugnant with the tedium of dealing with them.
I don't know about you but I play the maps for the entertainment value, not the annoyance value.
Silverfish are only an annoyance if you don't know how to deal with them.
If you absolutely don't want to deal with silverfish anyway, THEN DON'T. Try actually thinking outside the box and being innovative. Tunnel ratting is neither of those.
The only way to 'deal' with them is to NOT think outside the box and stick to the programmed route like a moron robot. Anything else involves a tedious removal process.
My guess is that he didn't even attempt the map (or immediately went with 'innovative' tunneling) before checking it in mcedit. If he actually played the map for more than 5 minutes he would know that there is no reason to be freaking out so much.
I've got 8 wool so far and until then I put up with the nonsense. 628000 silverfish around spawn was a discovery after I got pissed off with the cheap tricks.

I'm playing through Kaizo Caverns 2.1 right now, and I can't help but to notice that the only places I've found silverfish so far just so conveniently happen to be the very places where Zisteau went in his infamous Kaizo Caverns LP.
Just started Kaizo Caverns 2.1, and loving it so far! I don't get why people are overreacting so much about the silverfish. Just don't break the silverfish blocks and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING will happen. Plus, you can use TNT to remove them if you really need to. (Or creepers, in that case...) Anyway, loving the map, just started Cavern of Sky and so far have died twice: Once at the very beginning from lava, and once in the Purple Wool dungeon (not giving any spoilers here). GOD I hated the Purple Wool. But anyway. Great map, hope #10 is just as good :smile.gif:
Okay, some of those placements are just retarded. Vechs seems to have made the mistake of confusing difficulty with annoyance. There is a fine line, Vechs.
Anyways, I just went into MCEdit and, without actually looking around, because that would spoil it, pressed ctrl+a and did a find-and-replace. My map is now silverfishstone-free. I feel no shame, nor should I. Because, see, I'm a big fan of playing games the way they're most fun, not necessarily how they're "supposed" to be played. If that means going melee-only in TF2, so be it. If that means inventory editing, so be it. If that means editing the map to my liking, so be it. My passion for working the game around me instead of working myself around the game is what started me playing these maps as well as normal Minecraft in the first place.
So there you go.
P.S. I love the new enchanted loot, it makes combat actually unique and interesting, and it develops an actual worthwhile rewards system.
For those who are complaining about the annoyance of silverfish blocks, please go to youtube and look up Kaizo Mario. Everything about a "Kaizo" map is meant to be as annoying as hell. Blocks appear out of thin air to mess up your jumps. They aren't meant to be a fair challenge. They are meant to make you want to rage quit and pull out your hair. There are ways to deal with and/or avoid silverfish.
You see it as annoying and not a challenge, but the challenge is overcoming your own annoyance. The fun in these maps is persevering despite all of the unfairness and hair-pulling to finish the victory monument. I've had a greater sense of achievement in looking at wool blocks in a row in Vechs' maps, then in most other video games where I've saved the world/princess/etc.

Well Okay, I've got a quick question, and I don't want too much of a hint/help, just a simple yes or no, but by section 01 (after humble start) of Legendary, should I have more than wood tools? ( Because at the moment I have wood tools, and there's nothing but sand, just checking, feels like I have missed something )

Wood isn't so bad, but as soon as you find stone, upgrade. You'll need it :wink.gif:
Why? I don't tell where it is, or even on which map it is. If you know where it is, that means you already found it. But I don't even know how to put spoilers anyways :tongue.gif:

the illvern mines are a living nightmare
Imagine firing enemies from a spawner at a team that has no idea where they are coming from.
walking peacefully back with a wool then what appears in frount of you...
I'm going to go test the best knockback level now...
Well that was fun to test... anyway a sign with knockback 10 should work the best.
Some creepers were harmed in this test

What do you mean he hasn't?

might want to put spoilers on that

Thanks TheCake2. I was looking for an icon like the "insert image" button.
