I'm not sure what the problem is nor am I sure how to fix it. I'm making it low priority anyway, because:
In production: Survival Snow
Ahem...Pending a new name...
Anyway, its much more structured and improved in my opinion. Like I keep saying, i've learned a lot.
So far the map is covered in snow and ice. The underground is as survival sands was intended - not much dirt, no gravel at all. Even resources are more scarce via mining to encourage scavenging for materials rather then digging for them. Pretty much all useful resources are hand placed.
There were a lot of scenery buildings in survival sands - such as the obelisks, that had no entrances. Any landmark or monument on this map i'd like to have something the player can do at it as gravitating towards a monument and finding nothing there seemed disapointing.
Yeah that was probably one of the things I didnt like so much. Ive gone to a few monuments and really found nothing there. which usually brought me to my death because it'd be at night and I would be hopeful i could run in for protection xD.
I am too, but it looks like I'm going to hold off on making it until sometime this weekend when some mods get updated. I did however make some seperate buildings that I can copy/paste in when I start generating the map properly (and a nice dungeon)
So, sort of a head start. Already excited to put it all together :smile.gif:
the same bug has happened to me though not in the same place. I have gotten stuck in that general area though, as well as in the underside of the carved out mountain/subway(?).
Also when I deleted and re-extracted from the .rar I was greeted with huge amounts of lag around the mound near the nether portal. It seems that all of the issues are right in the same areas though so that may be something. And it also seems like the rest of the map is fine.
before the update (in 1.23) I was getting lots of lag at spawn but that may have been because I copy/pasted from a backup save rather than re-extracting.
The map is awesome, and I look forward to your next. I just hope that these issues won't persist in them because they really put a damper on the play.
its weird, I havent experienced any lag, or these glitches that have been mentioned. Im using 1.23 and have been in the areas mentioned. Guess im just lucky.
I'm actually getting the mentioned bug right now in a spot nearby to that. INVESTIGATING!
Seriously, what the hell.
--------------------
I can not figure out what the heck it actually is - though some other people on default maps have reported the same thing since v1.3 map conversion. I'm betting its something minecraft related rather than me creating something gamebreaking (ie, conversion corrupted a chunk or two).
I'll keep looking into it but it seems like theres nothing unusual in the area that could cause this (pretty much anything that MIGHT i tried removing and it still occurs.)
That glitch is very annoying, i even moved my character with McEdit and my character is still shaking and unresponsive.
Yeah - really sorry. Don't know what I can do about it to everyone who has this. Going to mention again that i cant fix it, and i'm starting a new map from scratch that should not only be better - but also not have this problem :tongue.gif:
May have a download for that on monday or tuesday - hopefully. atleast mroe info then.

Move him further. I froze by this stone thing on the cliff by the sky pyramid, then moved him in front but was still stuck. i then moved him into the first pyramid you see when you spawn and was fine.

Let's suffice to say I don't think using frickin flint and steel is going to light moss on fire...
I decided to host this map on my own server that my friends use. We were playing it for a bit and settled in the nearby ruins. We eventually found ourselves at the SkyLord temple and did epic battle with a ghast. We managed to destroy the monster spawner and just went on our merrily way. After some long adventures we finally needed food and a good night's sleep so we headed back to the ruins. That is... until we heard this!
Video lags a bit, It's pretty insane. May want to turn down volume slightly.

Holy...****... well. I'm going to remove the Ghast spawners right now. :'D
Maybe that's what is locking people up?
I'm not entirely sure. When this happened I immediately went back to the shrine to see if there was any spawners left, but found instead an exact duplicate of the shrine located slightly to the rear of the original shrine. My friend couldn't see it. We thought the ghast spawner was awesome, but this had to be some kind of insane bug.

A duplicate shrine? Can I get a screenshot of that? (just tested removal of all ghast spawners, nothing changed in terms of bugging out)
UPDATED TO v1.25:
Fixed the major bug! You should no longer freeze in place at that location. This was done by entirely deleting 4-5 chunks and somewhat rebuilding them - thus there is a bit of absence of underground caves in that area now. I replaced temple on the surface there with a very small and hastily made Pyramid. Feel free to report if you crash in this area still.
The area was lazily replaced because: Seriously, I keep hyping my new map. I'm focusing more energy on that then fixing this because I feel its going to blow this one away when It's finished.
You can expect: More dungeons, unique Ice themed landscape, everything that was good about survival sands (may notice some buildings/pathways carried over - avoiding that a little because it feels corny), more lore to the area, much harsher enviorment, and a larger one. More of everything except - Less dirt than Sands, more emphasis on scavenging for resources, trees, and ore.
Survival Sands v1.25 is "World5"
With the new map system you can name your folders anything and they are still detected in the new launcher. I felt it more appropriate to name it this :smile.gif:
