So, I've run the Liberty Mall twice now, and quite frankly, that was absolutely amazing!
In my first trial, I scoured the upper floors looking for the chest just to find out it was located on the bottom floor-- in the first room to the left on the entrance no doubt. I don't know if this was purposely placed to trick the tester or something, but like a previous poster said: the rewards should be deeper into the building.
Also, I personally thought that a WHOLE stack of torches was a tad bit too much. I managed to light the entire building, and still have a several torches remaining. Maybe it's just me, but for a zombie apocalypse, shouldn't players use torches sparingly? In my opinion, I think that players should be only to light around a 1/3 to 2/3 of the map ( depending on your generosity/difficulty of the building ).
For my actual runs however, I was amazed by how much fun I did have. The enemies were just enough the first time through; where the main enemies were zombies and skeletons with an occasional creeper, and the building itself wasn't complicated and spacious enough to allow combat and movement. Also, you provided the player with temporary shelters in the 3rd floor (Like the SUBWAY) that didn't automatically provided a safe haven. Instead, I found myself barricading the windows/openings and killing a few enemies outside through a hole to free up movement space for me to continue exploring.
My second run was just as entertaining as the first, except for the one encounter where a creeper explosion blew me into another creeper, which blew me into another. Of course, that was just sheer bad luck.
All in all, this is an amazing map already. And knowing this is one of the older versions of the many buildings this city will have, I have no doubt that the final outcome will be spectacular.
As for testing, I wouldn't mind trying out whatever you release/need testing.
Keep up with the great work.
EDIT: Oh, right; should you add secret rooms, I don't believe that it should contain any rare weapons/armors/ materials for that wouldn't fit the modern zombie apocalypse theme- UNLESS of course, it was some sort of secret vault of a rich person's suite, or something of the sort. Instead, I THINK it should be filled with an easter egg, or some sort of necessity, like food; although the whole idea is entirely up to you and your team anyway.
I tried the mall, and I have to say it was pretty good! A bit small for a mall, but of course it was only a trial thing. It seems like the whole thing will be like Dead Rising, which isn't a bad thing at all! Sadly, no pics because my computer is terribad.
Well first of all I was confused by the goal of the test it said to make it through the building but did not specify room to room domination. Secondly at first I wan't sure whether or not I was supposed to build/block off parts of the building to take a breather. I did although it didn't matter all that much due to the endless waves of zombies/skeletons/creepers/spiders and one or two spider jockeys :tongue.gif: None the less I ended up getting mutilated on normal due to how many monsters had spawned. That building better have a bunch of food and some good materieals if so :tongue.gif: Also I suggest using the SDK gun mod as I will for my possible zombie apocolypse map in the future witch will be more based on little towns at first as it is a solo project. Anyways I had fun testing it and I found that the rooms were very cramped and I had a tough time trying not to get cornered. The only room that wasn't was the main hall wit ch was packed with monsters so please work on that :tongue.gif: Thanks guys and I hope to play the finished product in the future.
The Mall itself is ok and the idea is ok too! But...
There are simply to many monsters. I was expecting a mall with zombies not Creepers, Jockeys, and God Damn TANKS.
I died twice in 2 minutes.
A creeper blew up the spawn point.
Laggg.
I blew up the mall with spawned tnt.
I give you 3/5

Hello, I have played the beta a few times and i have found a moderate amount of problems.
1. The first and biggest problem is that you guys can make many more details in less amount of room (bassicly you guys take up too much space). For instance the cafeteria was huge but if u used stairs as seats it looks better and saves room. Another example is the shops i saw stone rows which i was guessing were supposed to be shelves like in a gass station and i was wondering why you guys did not use stairs as better detail and effect. A few more would be making better counters in the stores, there are a few ways to do this but it is a bit hard to explain and putting glass in all windows but the purposly broken ones or put glass on the second floor to walk on like a real mall.
2. The second thing is lighting the place up. For example to colonize the mall u need to put torches above the stores but i couldnt because theres no way to get up on to them so monsters were jumping down on me. Once lit up monsters still spawn at the spawners and at the roof (so can you destroy spawners if building colonized and can u build/repair in the game, i am guessing yes because it is a survival).
3. The third is miscellaneous. Fire actually helped me because most is in pits that i led monsters into and actually helped light the place up (to prevent people from using the fire too much make it block passages ways so they have a 1 block space to squeeze through). Try to spread the chests apart and have 1 realisticly in each store but have nothing or barely anything good in them.
4. Difficulty: Getting in to the building is tough because the mobs build up at the door but once you get in all u need is a choke point like a open door to funnel the monsters through as u pick them off 1 by one. (I tested on normal twice and hard for a second but 3 creepers blew up the walls and i died)
All and all difficulty rateing from 1-10 is about a 7 on normal and 9 on hard. (10 meens death every time where as 1 meens you can't even take damage) Also i was wondering if i can help build because i am a mapper and i enjoy building/testing stuff so please review my reviw haha and tell me what you think and if u can improve thanks!
EDIT: I forgot to say the mall needs to be a bit bigger and meybe basement storage rooms. (I understand u guys have to build a city but it is every detail that counts!) Good luck!
Technically an adventure has an objective but this is a surv ur just in a city with a side objective. This map would work great on multiplayer as a better more in depth survival.
Well thats ambiguous. Adventures, as the poster above me said, have a set goal. Survival scenarios are simply you staying alive and exploring. This city is open to interpretation, and you can do whatever you want in it. You can choose to give yourself a set goal (like escaping) or simply run around and have fun. Again, totally up to you.
Ive read all the reviews and taken due note, but if you do have any other tips for improvements or problems with the building be sure to tell us.
aaaaand a progress update: We are still working on the demo...harder than I thought it would be. The demo also has to be unique from the actual map, so we are including a few little things that arent in the pictures we have up.
Would you prefer a delayed demo release, but two versions of the release (One with SDK's gun mod and one without it) or the demo to be up ASAP but without SDK's mod?
I personally won't be using the SDK mod, but I am patient, and understand that others will want to use it. I say go with whichever you guys prefer.
Well I can release them one by one if you wish. Ill just finish the normal one then work on the SDK's mod one. Its just that those waiting for the SDK's might have to wait a little bit longer.
Heres a gas station hope it fits (u need to do the flooring sorry :/) http://www.mediafire.com/?41dw48vzs76x9vf
1 empty chest and a lot of details u need to take note of. :biggrin.gif:
I recomend u put the spawner in the restrooms or in a corner
I am working on more buildings right now i might make a huge factory but tell me what you need the most.
Heres a house (hope you like the style and made it useing the golden ratio somewhat). http://www.mediafire.com/?rpdih47owd5fs63
1 empty chest
1 bed (needed for effect and so player can change spawnpoint as in colonizeing a place)
do not put a spawner in it mobs will appear naturally because it is too small.
This is by far the best implementation of a zombie map I have ever seen. I am planning on starting some sort of zombie apocalypse server in addition to the SMP I have been running (with due credit on my website, of course), and I think this will be the perfect map. Is there any way you can post some more screenshots or provide an updated map so I can check it out more? I'll probably modify the gameplay a bit with the addition of plugins (only zombies spawn, give points for kills, swap points for items, etc).
Also, if your files are getting rather big, I'd be more than happy to mirror/host your maps and texture pack. It would probably be much faster than dropbox as well. Keep up the great work!

Edit: SirCallum, check your PMs.
For the moment, work on the city itself has nearly halted. All work is focused on getting the demo ready for release (which, as I have said, is harder than I expected it to be...). Ill update the pictures when work is back on track with the city itself. If you would like, once the demo is complete, you can use that to run a trial server.
It's a two story hospital. I did furnish it somewhat, and added two empty chests: One in the Employees Only room, and another in the ER (Emergency Room).
I'm sorry, but I did not get a chance to place spawners or demolish parts of the building to fit the theme. I wasn't sure how to do it myself :l.
Please tell me what you think, for I'm not too sure if the building itself is good enough, but I wanted to help nonetheless.
EDIT: Ahh crud. I forgot that I made the sink in the ER out of iron blocks. Please change that to what you deem is appropriate.

We've had this buildings sent in before...
Not sure if that was you or someone else. Looks good anyway, maybe a tad bit unfurnished Trying to furnish is really quite difficult, Ive faced that quite a few times. We are happy to take any buildings we get, just so long as they are furnished somewhat.

Really? Huh, I spent quite a bit of time building that on minecraft the other day... o-o.
Sorry if it's a bit too much like the other building then :c.
