if someone sends me the map i can work on it and try to get this going again
1.) You double posted.
2.) You can download the map for yourself.
3.) This never stopped progress. The creator never said that it was dead, and when people asked him, he told them it was still in progress. It's just slower because as you get older you need to care about a lot more things than just a game.
Trailers/let's plays - please post - we might feature it
Music - upload a playlist of self made music as a soundtrack and we'll definitely feature it
I'm curious, has anyone sent you guys anything on this? If not, I'm actually quite interested in creating a custom soundtrack for this. Especially with the way resource packs work in Minecraft, it's now super easy to overhaul the sounds and music to create a more fitting atmosphere, which is pretty awesome.
I won't be able to work on anything immediately because the audio on my computer is completely busted and glitched, but I'll be getting a new computer soon and after that I'm really itching to get back into making music. This would be a cool opportunity. So when I can get around to it, I'll be sending you some custom music made in FL Studio intended to replace the ambient music tracks in the resource pack (of course, how and whether you end up using this is up to you, I'll just be doing this for fun).
OKAY EVERYBODY, LISTEN UP. Sorry for that very loud attention grabber, but I need to tell you some important information. to everybody that thinks this is dead, it's NOT.
It is not dead. It will never die. You guys will have to be patient. We can only really work on this during the school holidays, when there is enough time to sit down and build. We were very close to finishing the next update last holidays, but we couldn't quite get there. I'm really sorry, but you'll just have to be patient. It's frustrating as we have so many ideas to showcase and give to you, but we don't have the time. Still, when we go to release, you will be happy you waited. That's all I can promise.
There it is, folks. Now please stop posting spam about this project going down the drain.

I'd like to point out that was posted nearly a year ago and that SirCallum was last on at the beginning of July (which is "new", there was a larger break before that).
It's nearing a year since we got news, and so logic dictates that another "Black Mesa" happened (promised too much too soon, so they went (for lack of better words) media-shy) or the project is dead - I'll assume the latter until rpoven otherwise. I suggest people start being productive, though; I'm looking into alternatives, for one.

Well, I don't know about you or anyone else, but I still have my faith. I don't care if this project takes 4 more years, I just want to see it done, whether someone else decides to continue it or SirCallum gives us news.

Honestly, we are in our final year of school (HSC, for you non-Australian folks), with our final exams in a couple of weeks. In the post-exam period, I can promise you progress - nothing to hold us down until University, which will be in March of 2014. So between November of this year and March of 2014, expect progress!
Sorry it's taken us a long...long...time. Not going to lie, the sheer largeness of this project was daunting, and I think we bit off a bit more than we could chew, given school and other distractions. That being said, we have been working on it, albeit very slowly; here are some pictures of some of the stuff we have been designing/doing:
We've taken advantage of the new height limit and made some sky-limit buildings! Additionally (which you can't see in this image), we have remodelled and changed the layout of the CBD itself - some new buildings, completely new style.
We have also changed the map layout, as you can see; each section is now an island, and we have had to fill that in accordingly. Pictured is the new mega-hospital, West.
Horizon City isn't a perfect society, no matter how much they tried: every superpower needs weaponry, sometimes nuclear.
Secret underground passages?
Further use of the height limit.
A 128x128 section of the new production and manufacturing hub - in this case, it produces cobblestone and cobblestone-based items weaponry and tools. The harder the area, the better the spoils...
Lava + water = __________
What's production without an assembly line?
...and the crown jewel of the CBD, the Westington Enterprise Headquarters. (Done by DrKrinkels)
Quick look at the inside of the Headquarters.
A (WIP) prison. Who says there aren't criminals in Horizon City? (Done by DrKrinkels)
And, finally, an earlier picture of the up-and-coming Tourist Zone, and one of its eye-catching buildings (done by DrKrinkels)
Expect some more pictures tomorrow (I don't have access at the moment to a lot of DrKrinkel's work). But yes, to recap: still working, will deliver after exams, start university in March, much progress. Ta guys!
One last update before I not come back to this thread for a few weeks. Just adding a few more pictures and saying a few things.
As we have stated before, we are going to release these sections in increments - The now-crumbling bridge will eventually leads to other sections of the map.
Also a series of new buildings (made by the one-and-only DrKrinkels) that capture a mix of timelessness, style and power.
Additionally, each section will have various 'safe-zones', crafted by previous survivors. These are for you to take advantage of, rest up and resupply. Pro-tip: Use them. They are filled with goodies.
In the new map layout, the tallest buildings will be clustered, as as basically standard. Here are a couple of new ones that we have been working on.
Another angle, from above. It should be noted that, whilst the original building maximum height was 64, these are generally 200 blocks tall or higher (these are also really annoying to take a picture of - far viewing distance only JUST captures the bottoms of the buildings at a good height to take a picture).
With the addition of command blocks, and a whole host of other new features, we plan to implement (and have tested, with success) various other challenges and fun little things, such as:
Bosses, with unique names and weapons, as well as different tiers of zombie difficulty.
Different looting system - as opposed to getting gear from chests, with a finite amount, you will instead get gear and food from zombie loot. As is standard, the better geared they are, the harder they will be. Earlier buildings can be cleared with ease, and gives you basic starting supplies; harder buildings, cleared with difficulty and higher-tiered gear. This basically eliminates the concept of a pre-determined amount of resources and allows you to, if you die, start from scratch.
3D puzzles and mazes, with movement being user-controlled teleportation.
Race-against-time style challenges, where you have a certain amount of time to complete an activity...or else.
That's pretty much it for now guys, Ill be seeing/talking to you all (those who are still here) soon!
I wish to point out that the city is still very, very grey, With the addition of coloured clay, I highly suggest starting to recolour when the opportunity arises. And there seems to be a lot less fires now.
Oh, and welcome back. You guys still looking for structures? (Aside from DrKinkles work)

That's the feel we are going for, for the CBD - a monotonous expanse with a semi-depressive feel, a sort of dystopian society. Naturally, once the player leaves the CBD, everything will become a little more colourful.
The fires are generally one of the last steps in our construction process - we build the frame, add the floors, furnish it, destroy it/add flames then put items in. Don't worry - when v0.1 is released, you'll see flames.
As always, we are looking for buildings. If anyone wants to make and submit them (preferably via the thread, checking PM's requires a little more work, but if people prefer to PM me them, it doesn't really matter). Note that, at the moment, we don't need any more buildings for the CBD, so we are looking for buildings that would fit in to:
Industrial zones (warehouses, production facilities, manufacturing etc.)
Tourism zones (Shops, parks, playgrounds, movie theatres, hotels; fun things)
Slums (Favela's are what we are picturing, at the moment).
Rich districts (Mansions, golf courses, very upper-class - if you have wanted to make an extremely awesome and intricate house and/or mansion, now is your chance to submit it)
Anything that fits in to those categories will be most welcome. At this point, there are no real restrictions with building materials - as Landmine has said, coloured clay has been released, in addition to carpets, new blocks etc. To that end, I have updated and uploaded a resource pack that contains our current textures and works up to 1.6.4 - can be found here:
If anyone wants to talk/discuss anything, or has any questions in general, or even suggestions for cool buildings, challenges or changes, either post it here, add me on Skype (SirCallum_HC) or add me on MSN([email protected]), and Ill do my best to get back to you or have a conversation with you.

I KNEW IT! Hah! Everyone was starting to lose all hope in this, but NOT ME! I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am of the progress shown in these pictures. Please, I beg of you, finish school! Finish school and work on this 'till you have a series of 18 cities! Whatever you do, just keep up your work. Man, I can't wait for this to all come out
Also, I've been wondering if you need any help making buildings. If you need anything, just ask me and I'll be glad to do it

Haha, thanks. Don't worry, I certainly aim to bring this back to life after my exams (2 weeks, incidentally). As I said before, some factories/goods manufacturing buildings would be great, or maybe a cinema, shops, shopping malls, resorts - stuff like that. We could always use the help, but we are prepared to do it all if need be

Okay, I'll get strait to work on a cinema, then I'll try making a shopping mall. I've tried making a mall before for a zombie map before, but I failed completely. Well, I'll give it a good shot

On a side note - Updated the demo so it is playable without conversion, added in the resource pack (updated to 1.6.4), so the demo is playable again.

Did you fix all the doors? All the double doors screw up. I've made a version where I've went though and fixed all the doors, I can find it for you if you'd like, or you could just do it yourself if that's what you prefer. Unless you've already done it, I haven't tried the new converted world.

Ah damn it I forgot about the doors. Stupid update. Doors wouldn't be working correctly in the demo, but we have fixed them in a couple of other versions we are currently working on The West hospital pictures above has an incredibly large amount of doors, which took an incredibly large amount of time (Fun fact ) Don't worry about it for now, v0.1 will probably be out within a month.
Sorry but I don't quite understand. Is the map now going to be a bunch of islands connected by bridges? And each island will be a different part of the city?

Essentially, yes. There will be a few other placed connected to the islands (like an airport, etc) if things go well. We preferred the island design and figured it would make it easier to release in stages.
Yes, there is a server for it somewhere, I wasn't a very big fan because everythiing was already raided and blown up and all.
Yes, the map isn't finished, you can only download the demo release so far.
