Gah.... i passed the spiders using sand.. very little health.. then like most traps i thought that if i break sand, i fall through sand.. so i broke sand and started running away.... from arrows...which killed me.
war904 i want to ask you do you have a score systome for mcpyramid 2 or are we still supposed to collect lapis
I haven't added a score system yet. Will have one eventually.
I'm on vacation right now (or supposed to be, at least. Heh), so I can't get any work done and my reply time for the thread is low. So many replies to respond to.

Hey look buddy, I'm a builder. That means I build custom maps. Not maps like "Escapecraft 3", because that would fall within the purview of your idea of most puzzle maps. I build adventure maps. For instance, how am I going to allow some big old forum user to enjoy adventure to the fullest? The answer? Use a pyramid. And if that don't work, use more pyramid. Like this big, old, dusty pyramid designed by me. Built by me. And you'd best hope... being played by you.
i have completed all the challenges in the map but, let me tell you replacing all the sand on the pyramid with sandstone isnt imposible, it just takes along time and determenation, and it did take a long time to gather all the sand from the surronding area to make it possible so it took me about 6 hours none stop playing lol:p. but call me crazzy i did it. i'd like to say this is a great map and hope mcpyramid 2 will be out soon:p. oh and i got 43 lapis at the end of the game, im still caculating how much points ill have using the old score systom.
Yea, it isn't impossible. Just painfully long. I couldn't think of something that makes it sound very difficult or annoying, so I just went with "impossible".

im anticipating number 2! also, from the demo clip, can you make the sand hills less frequent? this is a desert, not rolling hills of grass sand.
It's possible, but extremely difficult. If I flatten it by hand, it would take ages. If I MCEdit it like I do with most things, it will be too unnatural-looking and blocky. Not sure what to do.

Looks Like a Cool Custom map might use it with the zepplin mod make some planes and fly around !!!!!!
Good luck! There really isn't much to build a flying machine out there and it's all just flat land. Not too much to see.

Me- Oh look, a room thats hidden by sand, there can't possibly be a trap! *digs sand out above chest* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Review Summary:
I had a surprising amount of fun running through this trap-filled maze and collecting treasure. I think it was enjoyable because of the texture pack - it felt like I was actually in a pyramid and tomb - not too decorated, but multitextured. I would have probably called this a puzzle map, because there really is not storyline - but that's my personal definition of 'adventure'.
I played...

I really enjoyed the info.txt file, because you included key information including rules and your forum link, in a concise manner.
Interesting assortment of starting gear. Not too overpowered (but only 10 arrows)
I was approaching the pyramid and heard a TNT explosion, but I don't see anything that was destroyed...There's a wooden pressure plate that mobs were stepping on in here - not sure what it does yet.
D'oh. I was fooled by this block of gold.
New strategy: jump and place a non-sand block under me before going after anything interesting.
Still died 3 more times to mobs or lava coming out of the wall.
Switching to peaceful so I can see what else is in here without worrying about score.
Clever. I didn't even think about digging down through the floor and have been putting torches on the walls. Then I accidentally put one on the floor in a dead end and a stairway fell out.
LOL. Even on peaceful, I still died down on level 2. I broke some sand above a chest and as I was looting the chest, sand fell down on my head from somewhere. I realize that I'm not frustrated, but am chuckling - these are fairly clever traps for someone not paying enough attention.
And down we go...
ooh, break the sand and a rapid fire dispenser shoots you. I think I've seen it before, but it made me jump. D'oh! Then it was timed well so that as I run into the room, TNT gets me.
LOooong hallway - a good sign?
Torches? Hmm... this is definitely a good sign...
Oh... :sad.gif: Is this just a big circle...?
I think this is the main tomb - gold walls, blue block sarcophagus.
Spent maybe 20 more minutes exploring. I don't see much of anything else - going to double-check the forum.

I accept your challenge for MCPyramid 2. Misson: Beat rank 13
(I consider that terrible considering the difficulty of making maps like these. I could build something greater than Prof. Grizwald (rank 20) in a considerably low amount of time because of the restrictions it has, making it easier to build and not have to deal with people breaking things. Am I the only one who finds that map overrated?)
Warning: Spoilers for MCPyramid 2 located beyond this point
Oh well, MCPyramid 2 is coming along very nicely, and I think it is safe to say "Prof. Grizwald" will not be holding the higher ranks anymore. I added lots of different things to this not seen in many custom maps these days (including effort). Also, because of the texture pack required for the map, I have the possibility of making things like moving walls (by making a certain block have the same texture as the bedrock walls and then moving it with pistons. One moment there is a wall here. Come back some time later and it's a... hallway?) or "weakened walls" that look like the bedrock texture but are changed ever-so-slightly and then used to hide passageways. This will require you to take the time and "study" the walls in suspicious places to see if they can be broken by either attempting to dig at it and break it, or checking the texture to see if it's wrong in some way. There is also many other things like this that are being worked on, but I can't say them yet because they are still in production and I don't want to give out information on something that is not final.

Oh dear, I just realized that I have so much work to do on MCPyramid texture pack wise BEFORE 1.8 come out or things will be invisible. I guess it's time to download the leaked version.
I'm also afraid to see how many things notch broke in my map
Edit: I also realized now that people can change brightness, the map has become much easier to see in. STOP BREAKING MAH GAME

I just have to say, i absolutely love your map, and cant waith for MCPyramid 2.
I play the origional once every two weeks, trying to do it differently every time, and it still surprises me!
i give it a 100/10
Oh! One more thing, for the texture pack, could you add textures for the iron and diamond armor as well? like ancient pharaoh guard armor or something, because i actually play with this texture pack and it is kind of wierd having default armor. If not, no problem, i know you have a life and this is all done on free time.

For some weird reason, all (most) sand falling traps are already triggered when I load MCPyramid 1 in 1.8. Did notch fix the floating sand bug? I sure hope not! Anyway, I finished the textures, including the opening chest texture I had to do by hand because it was not released in any texture packs I use for the map, but I can't release it until I fix this lighting bug and the traps which are triggered for some reason.

DAMNIT NOTCH
I noticed this aswell, and I have the answer:
ENDERMEN!! I was on one of the falling floors, securing a bridge across to open the chest, I turned around, saw an enderman, and he picked up one of the sand blocks, triggering the trap!
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
if you type "plz" instead of "please", because it is shorter, I will type "no" instead of "yes" because it is shorter.
Alright, I was testing the map, and I turned around the corner into a long hallway just to see an enderman standing there for a second then disappear. I freaked out. I don't think I ever was that scared while playing a game (even Amnesia). I don't get scared easily, so this was unusual for me.
Also, I think it's the endermen triggering the traps. I'll see if I can fix that easily.

Alright, this is bad... The endermen are NOT doing triggering the traps. Notch fixed the minecraft physics somehow that makes any sand that is 1 block tall automatically fall when a map loads (thats my guess). I loaded the world on peaceful: sand fell. Loaded it on hard: sand fell. I don't know what to do. For now, the map is broken until told otherwise.
Edit: Or it might be the new chests. The new chest block physics might be reacting with the sand when the chest block loads. I'll need to test that.

Good news everyone! I found out what causes the sand to fall: It's the new chests. When they are near floating sand, the sand falls even when you don't touch it in any way, shape, or form. The bad news? I have NO idea how to fix it. Any suggestions?

I think I have just found a way to fix my traps that are broken! First I need to do some testing, and if it works then I have successfully fixed 1.8. (Not that anybody cares)
