First, check your operating system's architecture, if your operating system is x86 (32 bit), you are definitely using eclipse and JDK 32-bit versions.
Different story if you're using a 64-bit operating system. Eclipse version is dependent on what you downloaded, so check your download history? Now for the java version, go to control panel and navigate to where you would usually uninstall applications. Look for "Java SE Development Kit....". If it says "(64-bit)", then it is, well, 64-bit. If it doesn't say anything, it's 32-bit.

I did run into a different problem and that's using wood logs and planks so I can have oak wood planks turn into birch wood planks for example and same thing with logs. I don't get how I'm supposed to do it i have googled it and come up empty handed. any ideas?

I know how to do all of this but don't have Time so if you would like to help texture and coding with 1 of 4 mods I have made Pm Me!
Thanks dude! I really like the way you present the updates and the website, WOAH! Awesome!
I also have a request: Please could you make Dimension Tutorial? Like how to make one dimension similar to Sky Dimension or Nether or even the Overworld?
Again, YOU ARE AWESOME DUDEEEEE!
You are awesome too! Sure thing, just give me some time
These are some really awesome tutorials. But I still have recommendations for new tutorials: Multiblocks, possibly ISimpleBlockRenderingHelper or how to render an OBJ model when wearing armor. I would really love seeing this page compete with other tutorial pages like bedrockminer's, greyminecraftghost's or wuppy's because its really well, simple and to-the-point written. I like the formatting, too.
Greetings

PS.: Are all blocks in the placable items mod TileEntites just to use TESRs?
Make sure your eclipse version is the same as your JDK version (x86/x64)
how do i check?
As human beings, we can teach, invent and discover, but if we can't do any of that we can at the very least be honest.

glad you liked it

(Fyi these are just temporary recipes.)
package com.funnyc715.mainpackage;
import net.minecraft.init.Items;
import cpw.mods.fml.common.Mod;
import cpw.mods.fml.common.registry.GameRegistry;
//Imports-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
//Random Needed Stuff-------------------------------------------------------------------------
@Mod(modid = MainClass.MODID, name = MainClass.NAME, version = MainClass.VERSION)
public class MainClass {
public static final String MODID = "wconverter";
public static final String NAME = "Wood to Wood Converter";
public static final String VERSION = "FRV1.0";
//Recipes--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
//shapeless Recipes
GameRegistry.addShapelessRecipe(new ItemStack(Items.flint_and_steel), Items.iron_ingot, Items.flint);
//smelting recipes
GameRegistry.addSmelting(Items.diamond, new ItemStack(Items.diamond), 0.1F);
}

Use itemstacks like new ItemStack(Blocks.wood, 1, 0) instead of Blocks.wood, so you explicitly tell the damage value
Ok thanks

First, sorry for double posting. Double posting aside, brings to number two:
A new tutorial is released!
https://emxtutorials.wordpress.com/adding-blocks-in-1-8/
In this tutorial I will be explaining how you make blocks in 1.8, and how the new block rendering method works in 1.8.
I really hope this clears confusion in early 1.8 modders.
Wow. I've been looking for how to add mob drops for weeks. Thanks for the tutorials.

Do you know anywhere where I can find out how to add new mobs in forge 1.8?

It's about time that I have given birth to a new tutorial!
Adding NBT Data to Items - this tutorial should help you store more data than allowed 16-bit data in normal item damage values.
