I myself was very confused when I first started modelling armor so I've taken the time and effort to create a video series on the subject starting from the very beginning and going to the very end.
Video Structure
On average, every video is about 20 minutes long - and there are six parts... This is because I do my best in trying to explain everything I'm doing so people can follow along and learn to fix their own mistakes.
Now - I understand that many people just need to know how to fix little things here and there, maybe someone is only interested in a certain part of the video, or maybe some just don't have enough time to watch through two hours of footage. For those cases I've added time stamps in the description in every video that allows you to skip to a desired point/explanation I make. There are time stamps for all the things I deem important and worth skipping to.
I also put in many annotations (also time stamped) to help people along, clarify things I feel I've left unclear, and to correct myself when I say something that's just outright wrong. So make sure to leave annotations on and if you miss any you can just look through the time stamps in the video description.
Lastly, the videos are separated in this manner.
1. Modelling the Armor
2. Texturing the Armor
3. Setting up the Custom Armor class
4. Setting up the Custom Model class
5. Showing the Model In-Game
6. Polishing (Fixing every glitch/bug/texture/model problems)
Resources
I took a lot of inspiration from a few other armor modelling tutorials and I put it all together to make, what I feel, is a very nice environment for armor modelling.
I make sure to credit the obvious stuff here and there in the video, verbally, through annotations and in the description when it's relevant. As a side note, I don't mention Subaraki's tutorial in any video since his tutorial is generalized enough to be considered common procedure when adding armor models into Minecraft. I only credit when I've literally copied code from someone else.
Videos
Make sure to turn annotations on and to read the description to skip to any points of interest.

Disclaimer
I tried to make the videos entertaining to watch because I knew they were going to be long, so I may get a little obnoxious at times in an attempt to be funny, of course.
Notes
If, for some reason, any of the people I've referenced for resources would like me to take off the link to their tutorial on this thread (not in the videos), or change where the links go, please don't hesitate to message me.
If anybody has any questions feel free to ask here. I might answer on Youtube, but I prefer here on the thread. Also, I am still new to modding in general, so anyone is welcome to answer any questions on this thread. I won't bite.

I am having a problem in my code. For some reason, whenever I try to run the game, I get an error that says that "String index is out of range: -1" According to the crash report, it is occurring on line 39, which is this:
There is one God. The creator of the heavens and the earth, who sent his son down to earth to save us... he loves you and he's pursuing you. Return to him.
...yeah, I'm one of THOSE guys.

Come now, my dear...
this.itemIcon = iconRegister.registerIcon(this.getUnlocalizedName().substring(this.getUnlocalizedName().indexOf('.' + 1)));
try
