MAKE SURE TO RUN 1.6.4 OR THE VERSION OF MINECRAFT THE FORGE DOWNLOAD YOU GOT IN THE LAUNCHER ONCE BEFORE INSTALLING
Hello people of MCForum today I present a new tutorial on how to install MCForge for 1.6.4 Client + Server and I inclueded a port forwarding tutorial too!
Text Only Version:
1. Goto http://files.minecraftforge.net
2. Download 1.6.4-Recommended
3. Once downloaded, right click and Open With: Java
4. Click install client and continue
5. Open the minecraft launcher once done, make a new profile using the version with Forge- and the version you installed.
6. Play Minecraft.
Server:
1. Goto http://files.minecraftforge.net
2. Download 1.6.4-Recommended
3. Once downloaded, right click and Open With: Java
4. Click install server and select your server folder
5. In the folder rename the Forge-__.__.___.jar to forge.jar
6. Make a new Text file and rename it start.bat (remove .txt)
7. In that file type:
java -jar forge.jar -Xmx1024M nogui
8. Run the start.bat file
9. To connect in game use the ip localhost.
10. For port forwarding, so other people can connect watch the video, or look online for other tutorials, as it is hard to write out all of my version of it.
How do I install Mods that don't require Forge like Optifine or Rei Minimap?
Check my thread (link in signature), it'll tell you how to install optifine on top of forge; Rei Minimap can be placed in .minecraft/mods after installing forge.
You managed to decompile and continue without me giving source code? O_O Bro, you are a god. Of course do whatever the [REDACTED] you want!!!! Good luck on it

Is there a fix for the 2 errors in Libraries/Versions thing?
Nevermind! I just installed the most recommend version instead of just using the old version I had from when I was installing NEI and it failed so I gave up.

Same here. I right click the installer, click "Open With", then click "Java ™ Platform SE Binary. When I do that, a command prompt box opens, flashes text then instantly closes.
Edit:
I just updated to newest version of Java (7 update 25). The command prompt is still vanishing on me, but I managed to get a screen cap of it in the split second it showed up. I blurred out the name of my PC.
Anyone know how to install forge for 1.6.2 without the Forge Installer?
You can manually place the jar file inside the installer, but you'd need to add quite alot to your json file. You probly just have broken file associations, why its not working right.

Maybe your download is corrupted? It says its missing a main class file... Try redownloading the installer.

Do you have a trusted webpage to download it from? I've tried both the installer and the universal versions. I got my downloads right from what I THINK is the original source. http://files.minecraftforge.net/

Yep, that's the true source. Very strange... Tell you what, send me a pm or hit me up on skype and I'll walk you through a manual installation.

I updated my Java again (Seems I had installed the 32bit version instead of the 64bit), and Downloaded the newest updated forge installer, then right clicked it and opened it with Java....and the INSTALLER WORKED!
Good news is that I now have a Minecraft "Version" called 1.6.2-Forge9.10.0.829 so hopefully I'm up and running with forge now.
Bad news is that when it was installing, it seemed to reset all the settings in the 3 non-forge mods I had installed on my current version of minecraft (TooManyItems, BigTrees, and Rei's Minimap). The mods are still working, but I appear to have lost all my waypoints in Rei's minimap. Annoying, but not gamebreaking.
