Did you delete the Meta-Inf folder inside of the .jar?
If you did delete the Meta-Inf and got the error
then try it without deleting the Meta-Inf folder; the rule for the server.jar's is the opposite of what it is for the client .jar's
And if it turns out to be that, or whatever it turns out to be, could you please let me know here for the sake of future troubleshooting for everyone. Thanks!
Leaving the Meta folder allowed the server to start. Trying to connect causes my client to blackscreen and lock up, but progress has been made!
I realise it's a very early release, I guess I'll wait until a bit more progress has been made before trying to use this on SMP properly!
Well, that's gives me some useful info to work with though, thanks! Are you trying to connect with the 1.45 version Client? Being beta there are enough differences from version to version that I wouldn't try connecting a different version client to the server than what it's own version is.
If all else fails you can try hamachi, but even having a blocked port problem shouldn't cause a crash I wouldn't think.
Using the 1.45 version on the client allowed me to connect and run around. I could place blocks, but not destroy them.
Then the client got stuck in some sort of loop/race and ate all my RAM then (predictably) crashed with could not allocate.
The server seems to be running fine though.
When I spawn in it's slow, but playable, then when I climb down the hole near my spawn house this happens, cue massive RAM eating and being totally unplayable until I climb back up and reconnect:
Another update, just sitting at the bottom of the mine for a while (allowing it to load I guess) made it playable at the bottom. Even though I converted the map with the tool beforehand, is it possible the server was doing the whole dynamic conversion process again for no reason?
And one more thing: It's disconnecting me quite frequently now with "Internal Server error", is there anywhere I can find some more helpful debug info?
Thanks for the bug report. It's actually best to send those directly to Robinton's thread though.
Other than that I'm glad that you at least were able to get the server running now and were able to connect and everything. :smile.gif:
Yeah, Robinton has actually fixed a number of the server bugs, on both the server & client ends, but just hasn't gotten around to releasing an updated version of the server yet. He's been jamming hard on other aspects of the Mod like Minecraft Forge compatibility and recently a huge breakthrough in cubic terrain generation fundementals. :smile.gif:
* But now that he knows he has another person interested in testing the server maybe we will get a newer version of the server soon! Thanks for setting it up. :smile.gif:

I have a folder in my .minecraft which says CubicChunksErrorFile, this is what is inside:

I'm sorry to hear you are having a mod conflict. Please send bug-reports of that sort directly to Robinton's thread though. He's the only one who can read those error reports that CC puts out.
The only thing I could think of is that you make sure you install Cubic last. But yeah, get with Robinton. If you guys can figure out which mod is conflicting with Cubic then that would be helpful for everyone.

Love the bigger worlds!
Great work by all of you and look forward to more improvements. Currently playing with vanilla 1.73 and CubicChunks 1.51 64k version.
I amlooking to install my various mods, and see that some of them are compatible so that's fine but I do have a question before I go about installing them.
In the beginning it says MinecraftForge 1.06 and modloader comparible. I know that modloader needs to go first but do I install MinecraftForge before or after CubicChunks?
On another note due to the number of mods I have/wish to install any idea if Minecraft Extended will work?
Doesn't matter if you don't know as I can always try and see what happens, but thought I'd add the question in case you know the answer off the top of your head.

You install ModLoader first, then Forge 1.0.6, then Cubic Chunks.
Minecraft Extended will not work, because both it and Cubic Chunks modify Chunk.java. Sorry. I intend to make a patch that should allow up to 4096 BlockIDs, as long as you're using Forge, within a week or two.

Oh well, I'll wait for the patch. before I go any further. On a side note I noticed when I opened the Better Than Wolves mod v2.91 that it also modifies the following class files: gk.class, tl.class and vh.class as Cubic Chunks does.. I'll assume that being the case would also not be compatible with Cubic Chunks... sigh...
Thanks anyway.
and I'll keep an eye out.
EDIT: It's a couple of hours later and Been busy installing mods. I noticed that Both Zan's Minimap and Rei's Minimap alter the uq.class file so can we gather that this would conflict also?
On a side note, I've managed to get the following mods working after a lot of juggling with the block ID's.

Wow astromutt, thanks for sharing that list! Any chance you could take that one further and let us know what ID's you had to change for what?
Also, have you tried the Zeppelin Mod with all of those? 0.11 of the Zeppelin Mod also has an Elevator & Ship control block and is Cubic Compatible with an adjustable height limit and no depth limit. (See it's listing here for instructions on how to adjust it's height limit.)

Yes, I've installed the Zepplin mod and it's working also
Here's the list for the Block ID's, I didn't change any of the Item ID's. Take note anyone who wants to use this that it's best to start with a new world as any changes to Block ID's in an existing worlds would most likely cause parts of your world to either disappear due to different Block ID's or crash. I think I have about 15 to 20 Block ID's left until your patch for the increased Block ID's comes out.

You could try overwriting CC's "px.class". I'm 80% sure it just fixes rain/snow for y<0 or something like that. You'll probably just have rain abruptly stop at the old bedrock layer.
MC Extended is ~100% guaranteed not to work with CC. Overwriting CC's "fd.class" is going to cause a crash.
I don't remember off the top of my head what the classes that are BetterThanWolves incompatible do. You could try overwriting if you like. It might work.
Also, I think it would look nicer if you put the list of BlockIDs in

Anyway was having a ply with the zepplin elevator on a test world here's a link in case you want to check them out. The height of the elevator for the test is 205 blocks, which began at Y:82 and ended at Y:287 (allowing for Height of roof above the platform stop.
You might remember all the fuzz about world height being moved to a single variable.
After decompiling the source code of the 1.8 pre-release, it appears that there is no such variable. I see a lot of hardcoded 128's all over the source file ChunkProviderGenerate, which is vital to world generation.

Also, I think it would look nicer if you put the list of BlockIDs in
Ahh so that's how you do the spoiler section. See it just goes to show that an old dog can learn something new every day. I'll remember that for next time and my apologies. Cheers
Edit:
I've gone back and edited my previous posts with the as suggested. Thanks again for the tip.
After decompiling the source code of the 1.8 pre-release, it appears that there is no such variable. I see a lot of hardcoded 128's all over the source file ChunkProviderGenerate, which is vital to world generation.
Hmm, Very interesting indeed. Thank you for letting us know.
