If it's a laptop, be sure the graphics chip being used is the Nvidia chip, sometimes in laptops that have two chips, the more powerful one doesn't get used automatically because the settings don't recognize Minecraft as a game because it runs on Java.

it cant be too old. its a Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 6gb so im checking the drvers for an update. Thank you!

no its a pc so im installing the drivers update app of Nvidia.
it doesnt work.
Use separate game directories for old versions.

You need to create a new profile in the launcher.
wont work it still says the same thing...
Reinstall Minecraft from scratch.
