I have recently upgraded windows 7 to windows 8.1 and I wanted to play Minecraft. Everything installed perfectly but it won't launch. It would crash when it loads up.

When you installed Win8.1 you ended up with a different set of video drivers than you used to have. The driver that you currently have is not good enough to run MC (it doesn't have Open GL support), so to solve this you need to install a proper video driver from the appropriate place (intel.com, amd.com, nvidia.com). Do not use Windows device manager or Windows update to attempt to fix this problem as you will only get MS distributed drivers that way.
awesome.... sweet lord how can i get someone to download minecraft on my windows 8.1?! lol
anyway, i havent yet downloaded minecraft on my laptop windows 8.1 i thought i would first look around for a tutorial or errors (like this one so thank you for sharing)--NOW, HOW do i get Minecraft PC version to install properly on my computer? Is there a tutorial YOU might know of that will assist me in FIRST downloading the "Drivers" you suggest? preferrably a video tutorial?
fyi--microsoft buys minecraft, minecraft should now come automatically in software lol ;D

(the second time I see the same error) you don't have a GPU (VGA) that supports OpenGL
(you have to update your driver I mean OR bring a better graphic chip

-Pixel Format Not Accelerated Problems in Windows 10 Reasons-
1.Old Intel CPU (2nd Gen and older) and these aren't ready for Windows 10.Please downgrade to an older version
2-Slow/Intel GPU (But sometimes Intel GPU just work fine from 3rd Gen CPU or newer on Win10)
3-Update Drivers (recommended for Dedicated GPU but not always for Intel's)
[This signature isn't to critisice Intel/Microsft or any thing of this sort, I am criticising You and You idiotness for not checking the requirements for Windows 10] (If you are annoyed of the ammount of the thread with a "Pixel Format Not accelerated" problem, plz Share this signature
