I upgraded to 1.5, started a new world, and now every 10 seconds or so it lags for a second, then runs fine until the next lag spike 10 seconds later. It happens in fancy or fast graphics. Anyone else had this problem?
Just tried an older world, and 3 new ones. All have the same problem. I'm running Windows 7 Professional. 3.5Ghz core 2 duo, 4gb ram, 1gb nvidia gts 250 graphics. I didn't have any problems with 1.4, 1.5 did something. All sorts of people are happy about the better performance, I feel left out :sad.gif:
With the update Notch actually did what he promised (Not counting the suppused bugs... I have yet to find them, but I alredy know they are outa here). I got around 10-20+ FPS.
I must say that I am now ok and will not complain about it anymore: 60+ FPS on Far & Fancy are now possible for me (With Smooth Light turned off, thougt. But then again Smooth Light sucks so bad that even if I could, I wont turn it on ANYWAYS).
Just saying, but I'm getting less than 1/3 of the FPS 1.4 was giving me. I used to never dip below 190, now I'm averaging 60. It's disgraceful. And yes, V-sync is turned off.
I'm using an i7-3360m and Nvidia geforce 650. I ususally get around 250-300 FPS on these settings:
Far render distance
OpenGL: Off
Bobbing: On
Fancy Graphics
Smooth lighting
Full brightness
64x texture pack

Some computers take big fps hits with smooth lighting i only loose 10 fps but try turning off smooth lighting
Yeah, I'm getting lag spikes too. 1.5 lag fix: FAIL!
PC:
Windows Vista SP2 x86
6GB RAM
2.8Ghz CPU
NVidia 8400 GS Graphics card with 1GB of dedicated RAM
Minecraft:
Graphics: Fast
Render Distance: Normal/Short(sometimes)
Bobbing: On (I like it, don't argue)
Smooth Lighting: Off(FAIL!)
VSync: Off
Brightness: Moody(See Bobbing)
TP: Default
OpenGL: On(Works Better with it)
And horrible lag spikes every 10 seconds. WTF? Minecraft 1.5 really stinks. Hopefully 1.5.1 or 1.5.2 if needed, will fix this.

Just checked: Minecraft 1.5.1, same comp specs, but here's my settings(slightly altered)
With VSync off and Normal Render Distance(80-90 FPS):
Graphics: Fast
Smooth Lighting: Off
3D Anaglyph: Off(for obvious reasons)
GUI Scale: Normal
Brightness: Moody
Particles: Decreased
Fullscreen: Off
Performance: Max FPS
View Bobbing: On
Advanced OpenGL: On
Clouds: On
Server Textures: On
With VSync off and Render Distance Short(up to 100+ FPS):
Graphics: Fast
Smooth Lighting: Off
3D Anaglyph: Off(for obvious reasons)
GUI Scale: Normal
Brightness: Moody
Particles: Decreased
Fullscreen: Off
Performance: Max FPS

what are your video settings turned to?
Strange that is happening.
Does it happen on any other world?
Limit Framerate: Off
View Bobbing: On
Gui Scale: Auto
Render Distance: Far
3D Anylgraph: Off
Smooth Lighting: On
Advanced OpenGl: Off
i would turn off Bobbing and Smooth lighting.
Also you can turn the distance to Normal if that helps
What OS do you have?
I got vista Home premium(4 year old desktop)
1 gig DDR2 Ram
2.2 GHZ dual core
integrated graphics (nvidia geforce 6150 LE)
used to do 60 FPS, now it's like usually 50 FPS, sometimes it gets back up to 60 FPS though.
