I'm playing 1.3.2 with ModLoader and Better Than Wolves 4.21 installed and using MCpatcher to enable me to run my own customised version of the LB Photo Realism x256 texture pack. This set-up has worked fine for several months (updating BTW as and when new patches come out) but in the past week or so I have been getting massive lag spikes in both single- and multiplayer.
My fps is usually between 30 and 50 but all of a sudden the game will freeze and then, as the F3 overlay updates, the fps show as around 2-4. I've tried running in windowed mode with the Windows Task Manager performance tab showing in the background and that seems to show a large drop in CPU use whenever the lag spikes occur (usually every few seconds). I've tried walking around in-game to see if anything in my worlds set it off but there doesn't seem to be a pattern.
My system specs are:
Core2 Quad Q9650 3.00GHz
8GB RAM (2.5GB assigned to MC when I run it through the .bat file that I use)
Win 7 64-bit (with 64-bit Java)
GeForce GTX 295 (latest drivers)
I've tried assigning MC more memory but it makes no difference. I've also tried using the default texture pack and that seems to fix the problem. However, as I had it working fine not long ago using exactly the same set-up I don't know why I should be getting the lag all of a sudden.

Anyone have any ideas?
