I've been having this problem for a while now. The problem happens randomly, but it happens all the time. My character hand/item I'm holding, and sometimes items that are on the ground, like a chest will turn black/dark. I need help to fix this problem, it is starting to get annoying.
I know that this happened on some of the school computers I've used, but I think that its actually linked to your graphics card drivers, not the computer or the quality.

You have the most recent drivers from dell, so it's likely that is not the issue. (Tho, Intel has released drivers for your graphics more recently)
I think it may be an issue with MCpatcher or Optifine (which ever you used), you may want to try using the opposite one, or even a different version of optifine.
No, but really, screenshots would help people understand what you are talking about.
Even tho you aren't getting an error per say, running the error test found here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1383256-advanced-minecraft-error-test/
will give us a bit of info about your system, that may help.
I have a Spoon. Your argument is invalid.
