Well hello! Thanks for taking the time to read my post. I am in need of a screen recorder that is free and works on Mac OSX 10.6.7 . I have tried googling this but have only found Shareware that has terrible splash text that covers the entire screen. I honestly hope this is the right section, I have many forum posts but have never posted here (this section) before. Any assistance or recommendations would be appreciated :biggrin.gif:
In short: Can someone give me a link to a good, free, non-splash-text, screen recording software for Mac OSX 10.
ALSO: I already know about Quicktime having a built-in recorder. It is not very good. I would like an alternative.
There isn't really any good free screen recorder for mac, sorry. That's karma for buying such a terrible product anyway :smile.gif:
I've worked with windows for awhile now, and I can say that I am much happier with my mac. I only come across such small limitations every once and awhile.
Try CamStudio (make sure you get a nice lossless codec though) through Wine, I wonder if that would work...I dunno, both are free, do it just to see if it works.

If you've got the computing power, you could run virtualbox Windows and record from there... just an idea.
Screen recorders through emulation/virtualization will not capture anything but either the WINE window or virtualbox window. When it does capture a game running through WINE, it only captures a black screen since it is not recording the game, it is recording the empty WINE window.

-Compatible with OSX
Pick one.
Damn, forgot to mention I already know about that, and it has very bad quality and I want an alternative.
Hmm...idk. I will look around.
I'm sure you've heard this before, but ScreenFlow is the best. It is a little pricy though ($100).
iShowU HD is OK. It's cheaper than ScreenFlow, and it will get the job done.
It's been a while since I've used my Mac, so that's all I can remember.
