If you bought things 3 for $1 but purchased 100 of those items how much would it be? And how did you get your answer?
Indeterminate, as the answer depends on how the question is read:
If one buys three items priced at 1$ ea >> $100
If one buys three items priced at 1$ for 3 items >> $33.33 asssuming the 3 for 1 pice applied to individual instances
otherwise $33 + whatever the price charged for the final singleton item
With not to great a clintonian parsing, one could read "purchased 100 of those items" as purchasing 100 sets of three items which would also >> $100
This is why writing test questions is not as easy as it looks…
(And all this without bringing in Jason Foxtrott style considerations about taxes, etc.)
