What do you think should be prioritized when making/developing a game? Unique, enjoyable gameplay, or the visual aspects that make the game beautiful to the eyes?
I, for one, think Gameplay should be the main priority when developing a game. Nowadays all video game developers are focusing on are graphics, neglecting the reasons why games are bought in the first place.
I vote for both. They both play as much of a role in how sucessfull a game will turn out to be, in my honest opinion.
Let's say you've got a limited budget, and you're only allowed to prioritize one aspect. You can prioritize both, but it will come out half-baked in both aspects.
The fact that you posted this on MINECRAFT forums, means you are going to get a very biased opinion towards the game play side. I voted for gameplay, but also I agree with the above poster, if we can have both, I'll take it. However, minecraft has texture pack support, and can be patched for HD ones aswell, so that means Mojang can work more on the coding side rather than the graphical side.

If you prioritize graphics the game will attract more attention but will turn people off with it's lousy game play. A lot of people look for graphics in a games today. As long as the graphics don't look too terrible it will attract a crowd.

Then I prioritize both of them, except I follow the aspect of 50/50 ^^

You do realize that this isn't about MC and just games in general.
When you're trying to make a realistic fps though, graphics is one of the highest priorities.
Wait what? That doesn't make sense to the fullest.
When you are trying to make something as realistic as possible, your highest priority should be gameplay. Just look at ARMA. It doesn't have the best graphics out there, but it certainly do have one of the best gameplay mechanics.
Fair point, I actually ment to say realistic-looking. I was talking about games like CoD etcetera.
And yes, I know that CoD is about as unrealistic as it can get if you look at gameplay.
I'd say that the most realistic game graphics-wise looking as of today, is BF3.
I won't play a game that has bad graphics (Yes you, Morrowind).
And if it doesn't have good gameplay then there's no reason to keep playing it unless it's an eye candy like Crysis.
Graphics are important to an extent. In a game like DF, the graphics are absolutely shitty beyond belief so that all the power possible can go toward running the actual game. I think this is okay if I can actually understand what's going on through little moving ASCII symbols, but I can't. I had a very hard time understanding how DF's graphics work. I think that's a bad thing.

I think he meant minecraft as an example >.>
I like good graphics but will pick gameplay over graphics.

The gameplay is where it's at. (Oh, and the story and music)

You heard that, green and red.
