Why hasn't there been a "Projects" Sub forum. So people can post what they're working on. And the progress? Anyone else think this would be a nice addition to the forums?

I don't really see a reason why, Servers aren't really "projects" so to speak.
I'm guessing things like building projects like building 1:1 scale replicas of things. If you are looking for builders, you should just post in looking for.
This is an interesting idea, can you elaborate on the sort of things you're thinking about, eg: what would an example topic contain? Would there be reason for people to reply to the topics? Some more specifics would be helpful :-)

I would imagine it being something like a server thread, where it would show the features that they would have, and a timeline of what and when it will be done. And possibly a place for Beta testers.

As stated above, a place for beta testers and applications for Beta Testers... (Maybe?) I think that it would help express interest in the project, or a poll.
Well I like the projects idea, and perhaps adding onto it it could be a thread for taking ideas on projects. The only thing I'd be confused about is how a project would be moved to like a finished project subforum, and I know the mods could manually move it, but that would probably take a long time considering this could be a big section if it were implanted.

It wouldn't take a long time, they could just report their thread and ask for it to be moved. Or have something to where the OP can move the thread them self.

MCF Staff rocks Although if the feature to move your own thread were implanted, as wouldn't see why it couldn't be used for other subforums, I just see it perhaps being exploitable or a spam causer if there wasn't a limit on how many times you could move the thread.
Also some questions if this subforum were implanted (seems like a cool idea to me atleast):
Would this forum have staff? I guess perhaps staff would be needed, but I could also see if SYC Mods and Koumus moderated the Projects Section, as I guess it is sorta a creation thread but not really. This could be discussed if the idea sounds like a plan.
What would happen to old / finished projects? Would they be sent into something like Legacy Support like how the Support Section has?
To me, the entire "projects" thing already somewhat exists, albeit very scattered around the Forums. People already post their amazing builds (or threads of them working on their amazing builds) in Minecraft Discussion (in the Survival/Creative Mode subforums), advmaps, mods, and texturepacks in the Mapping and Modding section, and just about everything else in various places in the Show Your Creation section.
Though, it might be a good idea to centralize everything so that projects or creations (i suppose you mean builds?) would go in a more sensible location. It'd probably make the most sense under Mapping and Modding (because mapping) or Show Your Creation (because creations).

Actually. OP has a fair point, even I could make use of such. I and a friend have for past year, thanks to delays of MC updates, been working on a specific MLP RPG sever that is quite flexible, but requires absolute no client modding what so ever.
Much time and planning has been put into this said server. Even re-writes from scratch. This includes plugins, configuration files and a lot of testing.
It would be quite excellent to have a "planning/developing" area to get ideas to allow building a successful and hopefully fruitful server.
Instead having to ask people for ideas, or relying on just yourselves. Getting general public views and suggestions, can be beneficial, or absolute useless.
But I would greatly see if possible to keep Modded servers separate from non modded. Each of the below, except vanilla, should have their own section.
Bukkit/Spigot servers should be the other section. Given these require a bit of work to get adjusted right and to fit the general wants and needs of the possible players that take interest into the server project, being what ever project it is. Such as factions PVP wars, RPGs, Jail/Prisons, or just general enhanced survival or creative.
Vanilla servers do not need a Project section, kinda pointless since it is just vanilla.
Then of course FTB or Tekkit should have a shared section. Tags on threads can help users know if FTB or Tekkit, isn't hard to tag there.
If you want a example of a project layout, I think the Google Documents I and my friend use can suffice.
But I do not really wish to share some of them, for they are treated like Trade Secrets.
I think a projects sub forum would be a good idea.
Especially when it comes to some big builds that people are doing and are looking for help or just a place to let people suggest freely about what to add. Also some lighter rules on bumping so we can post new updates on our projects in new posts.
Under the PC server section by the way.
For mods, their is a WIP mods section.

Thanks for reading!
