The strange part if it's an issue with an advertisement, why am I still getting it even though I use AdBlock Plus?
Google's database has the whole www.minecraftforum.net domain marked as dangerous regardless of the user's browser and extensions. You could be browsing with the most secure text-only browser, but as long as it checks Google's database for dangerous websites, it'll display a warning too.
And as a side note, the Chrome edition of AdBlock Plus still loads the ads in the background. It just doesn't display them.
Well, that's a relief. I tried to go to the Chat thread, and I thought someone had planted a virus or something.

The website hosted the advertisement that tried to inject malicious code, just because you have adblock plus will not prevent google from discovering it. Turning on ad-block-plus does not turn off ads for the entire world xD

Actually, this warning might have been a good thing. What if there was actual malware on this site? At first I thought this forum and the wiki had been hijacked. Web page redirects are not uncommon, and we all know that clickjacking is a major problem on the Internet. I'm actually glad the warning appeared (I'm using Firefox by the way). It made me stop and think before I clicked on anything.
Also, I give credit to the administrators for quickly informing the community about the situation. Thanks guys, you're the best.
Good luck resolving this issue. A webcomic I follow had gotten onto the "malicious site" list thanks to similar ad. She was never able to get off the list, and ended up having to register a new domain and changing hosts. Here's hoping you're big enough to not be ignored by the "powers that be."
I guess this is the effect of whatever made the site go down yesterday?
Could be. Malware could've overloaded the server somehow, and made it shut down. Dunno.
Anyways, although I had a slight heart attack when I saw that warning, I still question why Malware exists. How would the Malware distributors feel if their computer got infected.

Guys really just relax.
Someone unknowingly posted a link somewhere in their posts that links to offsite content that might be infected and google identified the link in the forum. It then sends out a caution alert to the DB that control virus/malware detection and reports. Its nothing serious. Just avoid clicking any random links you see in the forums.

I've done that in the past. lets just say heh heh the end game is quite satisfying when you prove to be better at computers then these people think they are.
lol everyone is in panic didn't you read the tittle ? DON'T PANIC. citric and the advert team is getting the thing fixed.
but regarding the thing my computer blocked a Malware trying to enter my computer. ........
My biggest question is how many fools on Mac have been infected. My friend, who is smarter than most people, said "LOLOLO, Macs don't get viruses, fool!" when I told him that Macs cannot get viruses. Goes to show you my faith in humanity.
That's why I'm saying don't forget to turn it back on again. And really to be honest, I can't remember the last time I saw one of these messages from Chrome so I guess it's pretty rare for me to come across sites with bad intentions.
When i saw the warning, i clicked the "Enter anyway" option thingy.
Does that mean that i disabled my security thingy?
damn Chinese, now they're trying to steal your ideas, minecraftforum.net! Quick, call the FBI and Homeland Security, and then get a counter-hacker in there to snuff 'em out! LOL XD

I suppose that, because this is ad-based in nature, I'm now extra glad I stopped dealing with ads. I've received one too many viruses and malware programs courtesy of ads in general. Saves my computer a lot of trouble to steer clear of them. (Yet another push: Premium has no ads, guys! Think about it!)
And for those who don't know: Some ads on sites are great, safe, and do no harm. Others? Very harmful, they give you viruses, and hurt your computer. Minecraftforum's ads? I'd rate as "safe". Other websites? Do some investigating if you don't block them, make sure you know their ad policy. Some websites do not care if their ads are good or bad.
(HINT: If you read Manga or look up inappropriate things? KNOW YOUR WEBSITE. Those sites are the WORST for Virus/Malware-ridden ads!!!)
This is precisely why you shouldn't use third-party targeted ad injections. This is the same kind of bad decision that leads to gold-seller ads on World of Warcraft curse sites and leads to user data being leaked, multiple times, from curse.

Does this happen for anyone else with the wiki also?

Yeah and let all the malware damage your computer !! Yeeey ! ¬ ¬
Ill just wait until this get fixed, disabling the security on your computer is bad idea cuz you might get a REAL warning from other sites.
