ever think about asking in the CST section? I'm sure one of them can get you what you need to pass on the the devs.
also I'm still not clear on why the optional filter was removed in the first place, it was a little buggy but it worked; I don't see any reason why it shouldn't still be here.
Agreed, it actually worked fine and with a couple hours or so of fine-tuning it could have worked.

Neckbeards! Doctor Cichocki does not approve of stupidity and neither do I, stop the spread of damned useless rules!
Who is going to quit? I am not, it is fine as it is for me. I would suggest taking lesson in how to type and talk like a ordinary human instead of throwing crap around. If you use real sentences and type with respect you will have no trouble at all.
OH LOOK, more thinly veiled insults thrown at us by the other side as they strut around with their noses in the air.
it would seem the other side has run out of arguments and has resorted to, "because I said so that's why"

You just threw insults at the other side. This argument has resorted down to silliness. The right thing to do is chill out, and be quite, until curse's demand for devs are lower and it makes sense to use their time on a profanity filter.

Uh, a couple more hours of work on the optional filter and it would have worked fine...
There's no need to hire specialized devs when what we were using could have worked with a few tweaks...

Tweaks?! In order to "tweak" you need to edit the IPB files. In order to do that you need FTP access. The only people with FTP access are the devs. Their are a lot worse forum problems (As citric has listed,) other than this making it a waste of time to be "tweaking" this.

actually the difference is that I have the guts to say it outright instead of hiding behind my mommy's skirts.

you're blowing this way out of proportion, all you talk about is "dev time is SO valuable! and "why should we bother them!" and otherwise sucking their dicks up to them, the old filter was a good temporary fix until they could make a proper one.
anyone else notice how the defendants side has been reduced to name calling and "because I said so"; while we've been able to keep up a constant argument.

You seem to think the Otter forums are much better than these. Why don't you migrate over there?
Because I was taught not to leave something in a worse state than I found it.
Now who is being insulting?
The forums are doing great, I still love them even if I can't cuss. It is not a game-changing thing to not allow bad words. Suck it up and deal with it, or go to your "otter" forum.

how does this relate to Minecraft? the topic is on the Minecraft FORUMS.
and excuse me if I refuse to be the admins lap dog.

I didn't mean game-changing as related to MC. I meant it as it doesn't make a HUGE difference in the forum experience. I never really saw any bad words in the first place (before the rule,) only a few.
So it's quiet obvious you have no idea what you're talking about, and are now just blatantly white-knighting. Please vacate the thread.
How so do I not have an idea of what I am talking about? I feel I understand the issue well.
If you read the entire thread, citric said curse has a high demand for devs. He also stated the many, more important, problems with these forums.

Wow... you are just being hypocritical now.
You are making a generalisation. Just because multiple people are arguing the same point does not mean they are a unified "side" or agree on everything. So just because one person arguing for the filter has used "thinly veiled insults" does NOT mean our entire "side" has reduced to such a level. Please, don't make these assumptions, or generalisations, I personally find it highly rude and insulting. Sure, using thinly veiled insults isn't an argument - that means you can just ignore those insults and focus on their actual argument. If they have none, ignore them completely
By making this generalisation, you then attack every singe person arguing on our "side" with your own thinly veiled insult!
You have accused every single one of us who are arguing for the filter of: "hiding behind mommy's skirts" (cowardice), "strutting around with their noses in the air" (arrogance).
You say our entire "side" has been reduced to thinly veiled insults and name calling - when it was just one person who did that, who has no relation to us other then the fact that they agree the filter is good. Just because we agree on that fact, does not agree on every single thing all of us says.
And then you say you've kept up a constant debate and haven't resorted to name calling, which I have just proven you have resorted to.
Have you not learned a single thing about making arguments?
Logical deconstruction of what the opposition is saying - point by point.
Making your own argument, point by point.
Making a point, and then following it up with evidence that proves your point (i.e. not "I was told not to leave things in a worse state than I found them" - stating the filter has made things worse, without providing evidence).
Attack people's arguments not people themselves (i.e. no thinly veiled insults).
Appeal to people's logic, not to their emotions.
Now please, get your act together or shut up. If you want to have an argument about this, then by all means please do, but do not stoop to the level you are accusing all of us of being at!
You are clearly not being very logical, and are arguing out of emotion. You are attacking US. Calling us lap dogs, cowards, arrogant, etc.
This sort of thing is not welcome on our forums and has not been for a long time.

while they don't have an argument, if I want to keep this thread going I'm almost forced to reply to them, as they've been the only ones adding replies to the topic.

it's not just one person, almost everyone I've argued with has used the "those that use profanity are simply immature" argument in some form or another.
and me if I'm not human and I feel like picking up on my deficit of insults every once in awhile.

the evidence is in the amount of against the filter, it's an extreme inconvenience to some people and it's alienating others.
Attack people's arguments not people themselves (i.e. no thinly veiled insults).
Appeal to people's logic, not to their emotions.
I've tried the former, in the form of gathering posts that supported my argument from three threads, 24 collective pages, and assembling them in a PM to citric, the result was quite unsatisfactory, meaning there was none. so I thought I'd give the latter a run.

yes sweetums *smooch*
now if people start being serious in their arguments for the filter, I'll be serious in my arguments against it.
Agreed, it actually worked fine and with a couple hours or so of fine-tuning it could have worked.
They become more and more like Mojang every day:
- Half implement feature
- Abandon it
- Community gets mad and nobody cares
Also, if you missed it, we had a 3 day or so discussion on this with Citric.
Amazing, that's the same attitude that Citric took originally, and now here...
Does he want people to quit or what?
