All of the topics I was following BEFORE the forum upgrade are in my "Content I follow" list, but new ones are not being added, even if I click the "Follow this topic" button and complete the popup.
I go through the options to follow topic - when I click on the 'follow this topic' button on the popup I get a 'status bar' showing @ the bottom of my screen - but it STILL doesn't show in my followed topic section, & IF I go back to the thread & re-try - it's STILL giving the option to 'follow' instead of 'unfollow'
I've tried 'refreshing the cache' of the browser in case the graphics are not being updated
(IF i DON'T refresh & go straight back & click the follow topic button it DOES give me the option to 'unfollow')
I thought it might be Chrome causing the problem, but I've tried IE AND firefox - & they all do the same
AND I've even tried each of the notification options (instantly/Weekly etc), along with the 'anon' option
Nothing seems to allow me to follow the topics I want
As for me, I don't really have the problem. I set mine to send e-mails whenever there's a reply to a followed topic.
Nope
EDIT: hang on - something just happened....
I rechecked 'my contents & ONE of the threads I wanted to follow has just shown up - even thought the 'follow topic' button in the actual thread is STILL 'white'
EDIT #2: false alarm - while 'experimenting' to figure out what's wrong - I had changed one of the filter in 'My contents' from 'just items I follow' to 'topic I participate in' & one of those threads I've been trying to 'follow' popped up
I guess I must've participated in that thread some time ago or something for it to show up
I tend to follow the mods I use. I went in Thursday and noticed one was no longer in the list. So went back to try to re-follow it and yet nadda. just won't work. Thought I would give it a few days to see if it was just errors on the server side but even today I still can't follow topics. I seen other posts here about it also where others get unsubscribed and then can't resubscribe to them either.
Yeah, I'm having the same issue. I've tried several times, each a different way and it doesn't follow the topic. A handful of the ones I followed are still there but a couple have fallen off for whatever reason.
Just a followup - seems like only certain threads won't allow me to 'follow' (& Yes- it is also in the MOD section) - especially if they are threads I was following before the site was updated
I was following this and this before the update, but 'lost' them after the update & they [still] won't allow me to follow, however - a couple of NEW threads (here and here) that I've never followed before HAS allowed me to 'follow' them
(BTW I've even cleared out my browser cache & cookie in case it was something there that was causing the problem - still no luck)
Seems like I've 'lost' threads over the site update & that those particular threads don't allow me to 're-follow' them again.....
Argh, all my past Followed topics are slowly disappearing, and I also can't re-Follow them... and I don't wanna rely on email notifications because I get spammed by one notifcation 2-4 times ._.
I'm being forced to rely on just keeping those topics open on (Firefox) tabs at the moment just so I don't completely lose them. Anyway, I've lost 4 topics so far, and it seems like I'm losing at least one each week...
Make sure you have "Auto follow topics I reply to." if you want to automatically follow and make sure you have notification list or email selected for notifications under that. http://www.minecraft...a=notifications
I hope you understand that this problem is related to only one or more various specific threads for people and can differ from user to user. And, that users don't want to have to auto-follow all topics they reply to.
I'm having the same problem. Things keep disappearing from my Content I Follow list and I can't re-follow them. I have added a few new things that worked ok but that's it. I've tried multiple things and tried waiting a few days too, nothing seems to work. :/

Doesn't help. There are topics I *STARTED*, after I turned on auto-follow, and they're STILL not in my "Content You Follow", no matter how many times I complete the "Follow this topic" procedure.
Your proposed workaround to this problem with the forum is ineffective(I've just tried it unsuccessfully.), promotes forum spam posts, and is basically a hack. There are some threads that prohibit following in my case, and threads(at least 5 now) that have been removed from my list are now impossible to add again. Please correct this error.

Try to set the options and see if there are replies from any followed topics sent via e-mail.

I'm no longer active here since no one else seems to be.

I think that has already been addressed. Along with the fact that the threads vary from person to person.
