You can search a thread, it took me <2 seconds to pull up posts about "endermen"
What if you don't know exactly what you're looking for ?
There are a number of topics/changes coming in 1.8 and could each have their own thread rather than the pile all in one approach. Yes, you can search and it works. It doesn't make it any easier, usable or convenient.
You do realize that approach fills the forums with spam and threads made by 12 year olds. Let those threads stay but god forbid you should find a thread subtely discussing ANY PART OF 1.8 NO MATTER HOW SMALL any where other than the "official" 1.8 thread.
But having every 1.8 discussion on one thread means there will be a multitude of discussion all going on in one thread, that just seems like an unnecessary cacophony. Like I said previously, with this line of logic, why don't we just narrow the whole forums to one thread and we can just search through that thread for a topic? There is a ton of info for 1.8, and different people want to discuss different parts of it without reading about everything else relating to 1.8. It seems reasonable to not have every single part of 1.8 jammed into one freakish thread.

I feel like everyone feels this way, is there anyway you can bring more forum moderators in and see if you can sticky the post asking if people want a future update subforum? I feel like lots of people would support it if only they saw the thread.
Could've sworn I posted this elsewhere (might not have, it's possible I forgot), but a 1.8-specific subsection is being considered. Those who make such decisions are acutely aware of both the desire and need for such a thing. :smile.gif:
Where have I said I either support or disagree with that thread? I am simply providing people with the resources they need/want
You are sympathising with people who are expressing their opinions on the de facto all in one thread "solution", and providing a method for people to vote for a better solution. Yet all the while defending against points I raised negative to the thread.

the mods/admins are well aware of this issue and we are currently discussing it
you've changed your tune since the start of the thread.

I dont think he changed what he is saying I think that they were previously discussing it but when the other Admin came in and saw this I assume that they decided to talk about it more. It's obvious that they know people want this sub-forum otherwise he wouldn't have given us the link which he seemed to previously be aware of.

Maybe you should just calm down and don't attack the moderators for doing something you'd like to see different? I don't see any change of tune here. Only a moderator who is objective and provides you with the things you're asking for. That's just how a moderator should be, and what a moderator should do, in my opinion.
To go back on topic, I personally think 1.8-related subjects should just be allowed in the Beta - survival mode section. However, any duplicates, pointless topics, and everything else not contributing should be locked, just like all other threads like this.
No moderator is "Abusing" their mod rank by locking threads about 1.8 or about the new monster. There is a thread about them, we direct you there. There is another option being looked into, as posted by Sacheverell in another thread. Until then, we will lock and direct to the megathread.

Well, why can't we have threads now? I don't think a few more threads about the new mobs or NPC villages would hurt. It's just a pain to sort through the mega thread right now. And they belong in the Beta section, considering that they will change the game mode.
I back the moderator's decision, there was already a discussion thread in existence and if the user searched before posting (Which should be standard, you search on Google for what you want before you make your own website).
I think a future content forum for broader discussion could be good, problem is that could also be confused with the Suggestions forum, so in that case a single 1.8 thread is all it needs, there isn't much you can discuss about it that hasn't already been said there.
This thread is going no where though, it's become yet another discussion about the proposed next update forum and a general and an attack against the moderation staff.
Unfortunately this forum is owned property, when you post you're posting on the staff's territory, it's not a democracy, so even if no reason is given, it's probably best that you don't get angry and you just direct message the moderator themselves for further evaluation over the circumstances that the thread was locked, if you get direct abuse from a moderator (And this is direct) then it would be best to send a message to the administration, if that message is ignored then you can't do anything at all.
When I was younger I was annoyed when a mod locked my thread for no reason and it felt like an attack against me, I asked the moderator for additional information and he replied with "This is a forum, not a democracy" which made me upset, it took a few years but now I really understand what he meant.

Rather than make the clearly logical step of creating that forum - which you didn't, you follow a stupid blanket rule.
You're too late now, making a 1.8 forum is pointless because its already way too late.
The "upcoming update" is the obvious next step, no way I will hold my breath for that after what I've already experienced here.
By enforcing stupid rules like that you encourage people to break them. Which they do. All the time.
The 1.8 thread is constantly spammed with old news and in the one thread version you can't easily separate it. The moderators and forum owners insist on wasting your time. TBH I don't give aflying f that you are "looking into" the possibility of opening a new one. This is not rocket science. Its a couple of clicks of a mouse and 5 minutes later, the forum is there. But whatever. Continue insisting on being useless and make the forums less useable for the sake of a stupid rule and your own inability to conduct or initiate a simple and logically obvious change.

Also, why are you defending/supporting something that it seems you yourself disagree with anyway?
Ok see like this, the guy was obviously looking for opinions on specifically the new mob, why would you need to lock the thread?

This is why I don't bother reading the stickied threads anymore.
No offence, but everybody is seriously abusing the rules. It's annoying.
