It's a pointless statistic that does nothing but encourages spamming. Sure you could argue that it shows who has been around for a long time and knows what he's talking about, but that's rarely the case.
Well, currently on this forum, there isn't an option to disable post count. Also, I don't think there is a mod either for doing this, though I haven't looked into it much. If you care to find a mod which FluxBB supports (it may support mods from PunBB as they're on the same base system) then please feel free to submit it to citricsquid and we'll take it into consideration.
I tried looking but couldn't find a mod of that sort.
However it seems that in PunBB you can disable post count by going to Admin > Options and looking for "User post count". It also should be the same in fluxBB 1.3 according to the fluxBB wiki. Not that I know which version this one is.
Don't turn it off, We won't have gold diggers anymore! AW HELL NAW!

Which begs the questions of why we're on this FlexBB or whatever.
Why not vBulletin or PHPBB?
It was decided that we use this forum for it's simplicity. We don't need a large scale BB like PhpBB or vBulletin (which is pay for I think, at least it used to be).
We're not going to change now, if anything the only thing this board lacks is PMs (which there is a mod for).
I'm a Web Developer by trade, PHP is my Job. I went with fluxbb.org because of the simplicity, if I went with phpbb any modifications I wanted to make would take much longer, with fluxbb they'll be done much faster. If disabling post count is needed, I can do it, I just don't think it's necessary. While I agree that post count is a useless statistic and if this was a forum I had full control over - if it wasn't for someone else - I'd do it, but it isn't and it seems that a lot of members want their postcount displayed.
The reason that I didn't go with phpbb or vBulletin is they're simply too bloated, we don't need all the ridiculous features that they provide: Sure some of it is better than what fluxbb.org offers, but when needed I can easily build in such features, I despise spending 5 hours configuring phpbb just to run well, it has too many useless features. Have you ever tried to use the permissions system? It's bloody awful.

Just because the forum isn't large now doesn't mean it shouldn't be capable of larger capacity in the future.

Oh god yes it is.
Fair 'nuff.
FluxBB, the decision is final. No two ways about it.
