Definitely should rewrite your rules for the Server-Lists Section of "multiplayer"
In those threads, you see owners forcing their users to make accounts here to post for whitelisting or in game loot.
Many of the most successful threads use a scammy technique they label "Greylisting" where they promise in game items for posting a good review or just a bump with a username. I've been told this was against the rules by a mod, but the most successful servers are all using this or some variation of this scam. Its an unmoderated wasteland out there.
This practice is Low Effort, Scummy, Potentially Tos Breaking, but MinecraftForums.net appears to encourages this practice over actual servers trying to grow with content updates... Just my experience.
McForums - Your "Server Lists" are full of whichever owner exploits the most off their users - forcing them to come bring your site "traffic". They aren't having real conversations by filling out a form responding to the question "what do you like about the server" to get in game items.... It's not users already on the site posting asking for whitelist, its off-platform people being FORCED to come make dead accounts(Check these accounts join dates vs when they post, they are being paid in game items to come here)....
All of this has been documented with screenshots, but you don't need me to show you - you can go look at half of the successful posts there, they are all full of spammy garbage.
Its a true shame because a forums based website can offer a totally different approach to how servers earn visibility, but instead this environment is somehow even more toxic and worse than server lists where the big servers can just pay for it. (Because the rules and moderation are terrible)
Forum posts are not and have never been ideal for Server listings. This is something we are looking into.
We do moderate the Servers Section of the forum to the best of our ability. We do miss posts. If you find something we missed please submit a report so that it won't be overlooked. We don't announce moderator actions nor do we publicly announce when a member breaks a rules.
