More worrying is that there may have been other threads I made that were deleted without my knowledge (I can't have remembered every single thread that I've ever made, and archive.org is useless since it hasn't archived my threads page since 2017 and the page numbers do not work); I only found out about this because somebody mentioned it (partly in reply to them, no, there is absolutely no reason for me to ever have deleted this thread, nor could the GDPR have been a factor for obvious reasons).
The reason I thought it was deleted is because somebody posted on another one of my threads that it was (looking at the URL, it does indeed have "minecraft-discussion" and not the current "minecraft-java-edition"). I still find it a bit odd that somebody came across the link when it has been a while since this change was made (a year or two ago, when they added the Bedrock section; that said, I've clicked on links in old threads and gotten an error page before, though I assume they were deleted due to the GDPR):
Basically the poster didn't login to approve their date being transferred to new owners during a forum sale, and under EU laws (GDPR) their account was deleted along with all their posts

Nope, as mentioned above it is because the forums changed links some time ago (I believe a few years, when they moved the general "Discussion", "Survival Mode", etc to "Java Edition") and the person who told me about it probably came across an old post or search result, with the actual thread being unaffected (as if you accessed it from my profile/threads; as mentioned before, there is absolutely NO reason for me to be affected by the GDPR, seeing that I live in the U.S. and none of my other posts or threads have been affected, and otherwise I've always been active so I'd certainly have (and did see) the notification well before it took effect):
Note the change from "minecraft-discussion" to "minecraft-java-edition". The "broken" link now properly redirects you to the second but previously any links like this gave you an error page.
The issue basically was a result of how we try to cache things, and it was trying to figure out what section the thread was in to see what roles you had, and since that section didn't exist, well, it decided the thread didn't. We made it smarter now to handle this problem.
Since it has the thread ID, it just goes right to the thread now, and if it's not the same section as your url, you get redirected properly.
Basically, it just goes "is there a thread ID? Going right to it!". Which is why those links even work. The sections at that point don't matter.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
The thread was not deleted.
There is a known bug where if we renamed a main section and it had sub-sections, links using the old name would break.
Your thread is located at https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-java-edition/survival-mode/2545948-does-anybody-else-come-close-to-this-level-of
A trick you can use to get to the thread is take an existing URL (https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/forums/forum-discussion-info/3000749-why-was-this-thread-deleted) and change the numbers (3000749) to the ones that identify the other thread (2545948) and create a new URL that'll redirect you correctly (https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/forums/forum-discussion-info/2545948-why-was-this-thread-deleted).
The devs are already aware of it.

You (@TheMasterCaver) are a treasure, and I can't imagine you'd post anything that'd be deleted willingly.
And we've deployed a fix that should now make those older links work correctly even though we've changed the section name.

Interestingly, "http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1544394-" (found on the Optifine thread under "even older versions) also properly redirects you to "https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding-java-edition/minecraft-mods/1286605-b1-4-1-9-optifine-history" even though it is missing everything except for the thread ID, which is also different in the current link)
