smartskeptic75 here to take out my moderate annoyance on a random thing remotely related to mcf and tell you why it's bad, actually
Citric sold the forum to years ago but stayed on as the lead admin/community manager, he was part of the discussion to close the forum (as far as i know), but there was no background deals like people think, no one paid to have the forum closed or anything like that, (microsoft did not get the forum closed, yes many have suggested it), the forum is just flat out costing more money to run than it brings in.
Oookay then. I thought the Microsoft thing was largely dropped by now. I guess dead horses never decay (though I can sorta see MS sticking a rare hand in something every now and then).
This is obvious. The Minecraft wiki is one of the highest quality wikis out there, so I can see why Fandom/Wikia wanted to pick it and Curse's other resources up. Part of me hopes it rubs off in some form or another on the Wikia wikis because those things are abominations. Hopefully they change formatting and start enforcing some sort of standards but I don't see that happening.
Spigotmc forums and planetminecraft seem to be the two most popular answers here. Neither are really ideal but since management doesn't actually care about this community it's what we've got to chose from.
For the next guy with the big idea: Remember, if you make something wonderful, don't sell out to corporations making your promises. It's never what's best for the community. And ALWAYS be wary of anyone who says otherwise. It's a grift, 100% of the time.

Figured it was time for a change.
I'll be using Discord to attempt to bring my map series back and keep it afloat.
Stay fluffy~

alright, I might not be the most qualified person to run a giant forum, but I'm gonna start up my forum idk when but sometime
Good luck!
Do it! It may not be much, but you can still carry forth the MC community's ingenuity.
