Administrators are traditionally moderators who are promoted when we've seen that they've demonstrated skills that would benefit our administration team, however administrator is not a direct promotion from moderator (the best moderators don't necessarily become administrators). We'll be hiring more moderators again very soon, if you want to contribute to the running of the forum then applying to be a moderator is the best path, but we also greatly value members who take the time to report rule breaking posts.

There isn't a place to apply yet, but as soon as there is we'll have an announcement up in this section, and elsewhere on the forum. I'm hoping to have moderator applications open again at the start of April
You should have the apply thing be in a format for a PM instead of public so any personal information or anything people may see as "edgy" won't be seen by the common member.
All information will be private, the only people that will be able to see your application are staff. The system will be similar to the one that was in place in the past.

Can you match my resolve? If so then you will succeed. - Monty Oum
Well it's well past the start of april, where is it? Is it a section somewhere?
A bunch of things have to be sorted before we start recruiting again, including a complete rewrite of all the forum rules, guidelines and moderation guide. This is unfortunately taking longer than I thought to get done, but hopefully soon... soon. I hope.
The current forum rules and moderation guidelines are quite fragmented, we don't have a single source of information, each moderator or administrator is expected to know the rules and how to respond to specific violations and that can be very difficult to keep up with as a new moderator. The plan is to get everything written down so we have a single source of all rules and actions to take, accessible to both moderators and members to improve transparency.
What 'skills' would be required in order to become an admin and to be able to perform the tasks attached to the rank? I am asking because I am sure that not everyone would fit the criteria.
Also, what are the benefits and the disadvantages of being an admin?
Here's a work in progress description of staff responsibilities from the in-progress moderation guide, let me know if anything is unclear:
# Staff Responsibilities
The Minecraft Forum Staff are responsible for ensuring that the Minecraft Forum is an excellent resource for Minecraft players to learn about the game, discover new content and share their creations, while fostering a friendly and welcoming environment for all.
## Site Administrators
Site Administrators are responsible for identifying the needs of staff, members and users, and using this information to shape the forum, including forum organisation, features and policy. Site Administrators work with the Curse development and product teams on designing the software used by the forum, representing the needs of the Minecraft Forum community in these discussions.
## Forum Administrators
Forum Administrators are responsible for individual forum sections, they manage and support the section moderators, make decisions about section structure and serve as the Site Administrators point of contact. Forum Administrators work together with the Site Administrators to manage appeals and member support.
## Moderators
Moderators contribute towards ensuring that their assigned section(s) are clean and well organised by removing rule violating posts, organising threads into the correct sections and helping members understand and follow the forum rules with warnings.
Moderators are encouraged to use their experience and expertise in their areas of interest to work with the Forum and Site Administrators to identify ways the forum can be improved.

Yes, we hire people as moderators and then from there when we have a need for administrators we consider moderators who have demonstrated the skills necessary to administrate, and ask them if they would be interested in administrating. Moderator to administrator isn't a natural progression, most moderators will only ever be moderators, but administrators are picked from the pool of moderators.
is there any way to become an admin, I just want to know how (if there is a way)
If there is a way please tell me how so I can know
(F.Y.I i dint know where to put this so sorry if i put it in the wrong spot)

I'm guessing the default position is mod
