So recently i started coming back on the minecraft forums, and yesterday when i was making my GFX Shop i noticed i started to lag alot so i opened task manager, and to my surprise i had 2 chrome processes(Not including Plugins) one was at 100k Mem and another 200k... Thats 100MB and 200MB and considering i only have 4GB i was lagging a lot, so i ended the 200k Mem process and it crashed my minecraft forums... Like what the heck... Does the minecraft forums run as a plugin on chrome or something, and this needs to be fixed because low RAM computers cant handle the forums... Also i decided to try out firefox and when i went to minecraftforum.net Firefox froze, it took about 15 seconds to un-freeze, but it added another 100k mem to the process.... FIX THIS
I haven't had a problem with it yet. (fingers crossed)
I do know it hasn't used a silly amount of ram and froze which the 2 browsers above were doing. I had a "what" moment when I looked at Task Manager and seen the amount of ram they were using.
Seeing as I have a 64bit OS, I use Waterfox, instead of Firefox, but the ram usage is about the same for both browsers.
In the screenshot, I opened the forum in one browser, then opened it in the other browser. Both browsers have no add-ons or search engines. Both are just bare browsers.
See spoiler for details:
Pretty big difference if you ask me. The longer I use Waterfox, and browse the forums, the more ram is consumes.
This is happening to me to. Random pages on this site are using up anywhere from 0 to 100 CPU... I thought it might have something to do with gifs but there aren't any on this page and it's at 30% with nothing else running. This tab is using up 130,000 memory.
I am not sure, but the Flash Player is making the most lag in any site I come to, which means the ads are probably making a change in RAM. I do have a cyborg PC, just saying for my laptop.
They are just ads, images, they should hardly effect anything..
It's not the adds. I use several ad blockers/scrubbers and I see nothing in terms of advertisements, yet minecraftforum.net, like it was mentioned previously consumes a horrid amount of cpu for me. Equivalent to watching videos on other pages. Normally I'll have 7-8 tabs open, mostly text, and cpu is hovering at less than 10%. I open this tab and it immediately jumps and keeps jumping between 30-50%. Goes back down once I close the tab, so it's not just firefox issue or it would be happening on other pages. Worst usage is when jumping from page to page which you do a lot in a forum. Loading the page seems atrociously expensive even though I do not load videos right away (I have to manually permit each video to load otherwise I just get a placeholder) so that's not it either. Most threads are just text and images and should not be this cpu heavy.

My browser (Google chrome) is only using 150 MB of RAM and i have 8 tabs open in two different windows. Three of those tabs is minecraft forums.
I don't get lag at all when I use the forums (using Google Chrome).
I think their issue is browser related.
I seem to have problems with Firefox and Waterfox consuming pathetic amounts of ram.
I have just been using Edge.
Point noted.
I haven't had a problem with it yet. (fingers crossed)

For comparison purposes only, I did a fresh restart, and opened http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums in Waterfox, and Edge.

As I said, I restarted my computer, opened both browsers, and put in the forum address.
Waterfox is known for memory leaks, and the likes.
I'll just continue to use Edge.
i cant wait till i get my new pc and have 8gb of ram because my pc lags with firefox only using 255 mb...

Bless your heart. I couldn't imagine having only 255 mb of ram to work with.
I have 4GB of ram but for some reason i get lots of lag...

I have 8 gigs, and using Firefox or Waterfox causes that.

That is your computer and CPU power and your personal browser setting and extensions. Not the site.
I have 1 extension. No other page on the entire internet eats at my CPU with just text and still images. xD
