Ok, sorry for necroposting, I wanted to post my toughts.
I actually started with MCreator and now I'm learning how to make mods using things like Eclipse and NetBeans. People are evolving. There can be many good MCreator mods. I have seen one really good tech mod made with MCreator but I couldn't rember it's name. Another cool mod made with MCreator is Vegetarian Food (not Vegan Option) which adds some food that you can get without killing animals, and I tottaly think it deserves more attention than it has, unluckily it's creator deleted it. I took the time to look at your mod, and I think it's much worse than one MCreator made. From what you are saying we should ban litteraly everything on this site because it was made by "something". Oh no! I can't use eclipse because it was made by someone other. I have to make my own program. Oh no! I can't Windows because it was made by Microsoft. I have to make my own OS. Oh no! I can't use this computer because it was also made by someone else etc. So please stop. I agree with Sniper_Delta_02 that we should add a whole new tag for MCreator mods.
6) Not everyone has the time or skill to learn programming of any kind, yet they still want to add their personal touches. Programs like MCreator allow them to do this.
And, like wideload says, not everyone has the time, skill, or memory to learn Java programming nonetheless C+ and such.
I am using mcreator because codding in java is SO buggy.
That's a you problem. Learn to debug.
And how did this thread even get controversial. MCreator helps with learning computer science principles, which can then be applied to actual code. This is like bashing Scratch for being a learning tool.
I personally believe that learning to code is a very good lifelong skill to have. Why not take the time to learn Java? I learned Java because I wanted to make minecraft mods. Once you learn Java, you pretty much know most other OOP languages like C#. It could put you ahead of the curve if you want to get into Uni or get a Job later.

MCreator isnt bad, banning mods made from it would get rid of lots of things people might have spent hours to days of hard work on making, sure there is some mods people spent no hard work on with little creativity but thats not the only thing about MCreator mods out there, I use MCreator because i wanted to make mods, Sure it may be buggy but it still has a built in code part of it, i use it because i cant code others cant either but they use this since they cant learn to code or its easier and they like it more but that doesnt make them a noob and it doesnt mean they make bad not so creative terrible mods sure some people will but eventually they might make better stuff. if you dont know what my opinion is its no.
I personally disagree with banning mods that are generated because if you start to limit what mods can go places you can lose a lot of potentially good creations.
I have been part of the MCreator modding community and I create tutorials, not just your standard how to make a block but more advanced tutorials,
I want to point out that as it can take away from the overall modding community I think it would be in the best interest of the forums to not take away a place form communities like MCreator, instead create a dedicated thread for the generated code if forums have to go that far.
I have been working on my own mod for a few months and if you put time and effort and have a good knowledge of creating models textures and sounds and such you can make a mod that looks good and has good content.
On a side note, I have been making tutorials once a week to help the community learn more advanced things on my YouTube channel to help people see the full potential there mods can be. and recently I have just started working with the developer to make offical tutorials for the program.
But overall I don't agree that MCreator should be banned based on these reasons, its discriminatory against a mod creator based on their current skills using the software it would be no different if I had my own art gallery and banned any artwork in my gallery that was not made with someone with an art degree, its not proper to ban people for reasons like such, if the person was breaking the forum rules then there would be reason to ban a person or if there was proof that the developer was telling us to break the rules here then that would be a reason to take this kind of action but since that's not the issue or happing it not fair to straight up ban peoples content based on how the mod was made or how the quality of the mod is.
The forums can make their choice but if they decide to remove mods then at least make a subforum for people to post in.
In my case, I disagree with banning the mods. As Northwesttrees said in the above post, make a seperate forum for the mods to go if they are really not useful. Also I am using Mcreator to learn the basics of modding and what it is like. I dont have the time right now to learn Java programming in order to actually mod, which is why I enjoy using Mcreator. Despite the program being limited, I can make mods that are useful to myself in whatever situation I might want.
I've been on this forum for almost a decade now and have seen my fair share of "terrible" texture packs and mods. A ban like this would be a terrible idea, personally speaking. Yes, I always cringed at bad mods/texture packs, but the beauty of this forum is that anyone, regardless of experience, can upload what they've created. I've never used MCreator, however it seems to be a decent program to show someone how to mod Minecraft, and maybe inspire them to learn more, and put out better things. I myself made a few cringe-worthy additions to the game when I was younger, but the forum allowed me to share and learn.
Overpowered or not, cheat-ey, etc. it should still be allowed. This is where the beauty of having a choice lies: you can choose to ignore it, or if you like it, download it. You can even offer constructive criticism within the rules. Some people prefer to cheat their way. Some prefer not to, and that's ok. I remember years ago I had a similar complaint, and was told the same thing I'm saying right now (back when "simple" texture packs were coming around). We have the choice to move our mouses and click, either on a download link or to close out the tab.
I don't really have anything against MCreator. It may be buggy, but some people just don't know how to code! It's not right to criticize them and try to stop them from making mods. That's like saying "You can't publish this mod because it was made with a program I don't like!" It's not right to ban certain mods because you hate the way they were made. Making mods isn't the easiest thing in the world. If you hate this program, ignore it.
I will say that an attempt to ban MCreator is like an attempt to Ban Unreal Engine 4
I know that UE4 is different than MCreator but still, both were made by people and
both allow but are not limited to visual coding.
I use MCreator because I prefer to create models and textures over coding in java,
however, if you search you will be able to find good mods so yep just give it a try
PS: Here is my void jar that transport items between blocks made in MCreator
I see this quite often in here, the flood of crappy MCreator mods.
For those not familiar with it, MCeator is a graphical program where every damn n00b can make his own (super bugged) mod, without typing a single line of java(or anything else). That isnt bad by nature(except the code beig output being quite poor quality, using deprecated/wrong/bad ways of doing things), rather the lots of n00bs that can use it.
That results in alot of uncreative "super-common-ore->ingot/gem/whatever->super-overpowered-weapon" mods.
That in turn makes it hard to find good mods, mods that do things never seen before (or just doing nice things diffrent then something else).
I'm not saying MCreator mods are bad in general, but that there are lots of crappy ones.
Over on PMC, they have a rule "no content generated by programs"(not the best way to say it, as that would deny autocomplete as well ).
;tl;dr There are lots of crappy MCreator mods
My Proposal: People can report program-generated content they think is crappy, and a moderator then decides if the content is of enough quality to be on MCF(and also look if the content is program-generated(visible by looking at the package names))
* Using mod loaders' SDKs and coding a mod with Java and OpenGL may be hard for many people. MCreator eases that by providing GUI tools, which is good.
* MCreator is good for new modders: I learned all basic stuff of modding with MrCrayfish's tutorials + MCreator, then I started to use things like MCP and Forge SRC.
* Thinking that something is crappy is completely subjective. Somebody may find something excellent what you find crappy.
* Everyone starts with no knowledge about something, then they learn. You are not an exception.
* MCreator does not use deprecated methods: If they were deprecated, authors of Forge/Fabric etc. would annotate them as @Deprecated
* Anyone can make a crappy mod, by using MCreator or coding it.
* "Enough" quality for who? I think the mods in this forum is good.
* Why are you comparing Minecraft Forum with Planet Minecraft? Planet Minecraft is for uploading and releasing Minecraft mods, Minecraft Forum is for discussing about Minecraft. They are completely different, unrelated platforms which should not be compared with each other.
* Re-coloring blocks and items does not make a mod "crappy". Even The Aether mod does it, is it a "crappy" mod? Definitely no. Another example: You colored other blocks and items, did it make your mod "crappy"? Definitely no. It is a very good mod, instead. I put your mod to my personal modpack, because it adds some useful stuff.
MODS ARE MODS. a certain way of making mods shouldn't be outlawed, because some people like me just want to make mods and sent them out to the public for fun, and also, if you don't like Mcreator mods, just don't choose them. you have the choice to like something or not, but being discrimanatory against people who don't know how to do advanced coding shouldnt be shunned.
Exactly. That's a perfect way to explain it.
There are actually many Undertale mods. And while I did see an MCreator Undertale NPC mod that had good models, they probably don't have good AI.

I'm sorry, you think people that use MCreator make thier mods OP? You should check out a mod called OreSpawn.
And, like wideload says, not everyone has the time, skill, or memory to learn Java programming nonetheless C+ and such.
EDIT: sorry, necropost

Banning a mod simply because it was made with a program you don't like is wrong.
If you think it's too hard to look for good mods, then that means you're not looking hard enough.

Anyone can make a bad mod, with or without mcreator, it's usually a learning tool, it doesn't make sense... i
I don't see any good reason for such mods to be banned.

This is basicallly a free vs regulated market political debate.
