Welcome
to the FAYZ! It's pretty much a dystopia, here, and it's every man to
himself. So pick up a weapon, find some shelter, then collect all you
need to survive. Maybe find some friends, and create a group or ally
with one of the greater factions, maybe even create your own. There are
no adults here to tell you what to do, it's a free world!
Welcome to the FAYZ. A dystopian place where kids whose biggest problem in their life was whether they wanted a red or blue Iphone try to survive. Weapons, shelter, all important things to survive and you'll be able to find and use plenty of them. Make friends! Having allies is always fun and creating a gang would be the best case scenario. No adults here anymore so do all you want.
"In the blink of an eye.

adult. No teachers, no cops, no doctors, no parents. Gone, too, are the
phones, internet, and television. There is no way to get help.
Hunger
threatens, bullies rule. A sinister creature lurks. Animals are
mutating. And the teens themselves are changing, developing new
"talents" - unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers - that grow stronger
by the day.
It's a terrifying new world. Sides are being chosen and war is imminent." - Michael Grant, author of the Gone series.
Hi guys!
Welcome to this rp based off of the Gone series written by Micheal Grant. The general theme is that everyone over the age of fifteen vanishes and a 20 mile wide dome appears that separates the city from the outside world. The wall is impenetrable and touching it will not cause any burns but excruciating pain. The remaining people have to get organized and fend for themselves, especially since the animals start mutating into less pleasant forms. The kids are affected by this too though, causing them to gain great powers, or at least causing a quarter of them to do so.
I won't be picky about birth dates and for the sake of a more interesting rp I'm raising the poofing age to 18. The time of poofing will be completely regulated by the owner of the age 17 character.
Oh, and you don't need to have read the book to join. But.....go read it..............
Anyway,
this RP will be different to the story, where Sam, Astrid and all the
rest don't exist, and the "Big Poof" happened only moments ago.
Your
characters may or may not have powers. I don't mind either way, but I'd
say most people would want a power. Characters can only have 1 power,
though, not a whole bunch. Technically 10 was the highest but that was
pretty much only the apocalyptic archenemy in book numero 6 so I'll keep
that out. A five bar was there aswell, but again, pretty much just
there for apocalypse. Don't make it too overpowered any way. In the
book, the powers were rated in "bars" kinda like a phone signal. The
more bars, the more powerful it is. I'd rather not have people create 4
bars, they're not really apocalyptic but three bars are sufficient to
tear a building down :3 The general population of powered people is made of 2 bars. If you want to pack them into a metaphor, a 1 bar helps you releasing the screws from the foundation, a 2 bar destroys the foundation, a 3 bar destroys the house, a 4 bar destroys the city.
Rules: (I may add more rules)
0. Read all the rules. Don't skip one, you might miss something important.
1. No meta-gaming, god-modding, power gaming, standard RP rules.
2.
Try not to write one-lined posts. Any actions where noone else is
involved should be a paragraph normally at least since you don't have to
react to someone.
3. Keep language at T-13. The book did have a bit
of cussing in it, but nothing like the "f-word" or anything. Also,
selfcensoring won't work, I know, I've tried.
4. Yeah, romance is
allowed. Just no sexual stuff, but if you must, do a "Fading out to
grey" kinda thing. Remember, we're kid-friendly :p.....hehe
5. Put "anvil" somewhere in your application so I know you've read the rules.
6. New information states that no gory stuff is allowed. Don't fear me, fear the mods..
7. Make as many characters as you want. I'd recommend not overtaxing yourself but that would be a double standard
8.
Killing characters is acceptable, as long as you have consent from the
character's owner. If no consent is given, they will be stunned or
injured. Another thing, don't go cutting off limbs. Break them,
dislocate or stab them, but I will not tolerate cutting off limbs, since
they cannot be healed. However, you may do so if you have consent.
9. Gore is a slightly different topic. Since
this is a PG-13 forum there will be no butchering tutorials. Just...try
to explain it, without explaining ya know what I mean
10. BE
REALISTIC! nothing just happens on accident. If you accidentally drop a
bucket of water on a toaster to accomplish something discussed OOC,
people want to have a good reason why he dropped it. People don't just
randomly drop things unless that's part of his character.
Experimental rules:
1.
If you leave for an extended period of time, tell us why. if you just
poof, we have no reason to trust you with another rp. Writer's blocks
and etc. are fine but poofers can expect a cold shoulder in this and
especially future rps. To enforce this rule I've decided
If you leave for over a week without giving us a reason why the relative "safety" of
your character will be lifted and people are free to kill your
character as long as it applies to rule 11. This is a rather drastic
measure but I can't think of anything except for maybe a car-crash
that'll make you unable to post 1 line of apology in 7-8 days.
2.
You will not be allowed to damage a character psychologically in any
way without consent. Manipulative behaviour and anything in that
direction is still allowed but nothing that would completely change a
character's behaviour/personality like a trauma. I decided to try out
this rule because forceful traumas or changes should and would cause
dramatic changes in a character's behaviour, which can make your own
character feel foreign if this is done to you and will create
unrealistic scenarios and generally creates a less fun experience, so it
will need consent.
Time for the application!
Name:
Age (Remember, you can do any age from 1 day old to 17 years.):
Appearance:
Personality:
Starting Location (Of the "Big Poof". Make it reasonable, it's a school day
don't forget, so don't say your character started at the National Guard
base with the convenient weapon racks ^^)
Power (detail appreciated):
Backstory (At least 1 paragraph):
Other:
This
next section will be for those who haven't read the books. Though your
characters can't meta-game, you yourself can know about different
locations and all that.
Barrier wall:
There's
a barrier wall that surrounds the area, and it is impenetrable. Besides
this, it's an actual full sphere that centers on the PBNP, or Perdido
Beach Nuclear Plant. The barrier itself can be seen by people. For some
reason the barrier is a pearl grey colour when you're near it, but when
you look up at the sky, it has an illusion of the sky, like it's a giant
TV screen.
Hermit Jim's shack and mine shaft:
Hermit Jim's
shack has loads of canned food. It's just outside the old abandoned
town, which is located at the mine shaft. It has a small 12 feet by 12
feet patch of grass next to the shack, as if an act of defiance, since
it's in the middle of a desert. It's got a shed behind the shack, with
loads of those army meal things, and a bunch of ready-to-eat food.
They've all gone past the best before date, but as the best before date
is best before, and not used by, it's still edible. There's a small well
next to the shack, with a hose next to it. In the shack are books, an
old cot, and a La-Z-Boy recliner chair on top of a Persian rug. Beneath
both is a small trap door. Underneath that are 14 gold bars, about 8
inches long, 4 inches wide and 2 and a half inches high.
The
abandoned town is a town with a mine shaft. Just outside the mine shaft
is an old pickup truck, and inside the mineshaft, just at the entrance,
is Ol' Hermit Jim's body, dead, before the "Big Poof" The pickup truck's
keys are in the pocket. Down the mine shaft, an evil creature lives
there, which feeds on radiation. It infects your mind if you come close
and stays in your mind, talking to you, giving you bad thoughts and
trying to use you as a slave. This shouldn't spoil the series that much,
just the first 100 pages or something in the first book. Considering
there's 500 pages in each book and there's 6 books, it's hardly a
spoiler.
Lake Tramonto:
Lake Tramonto has fishing boats in the
lake and on a small little dock. In the dock's office are some packaged
chips. There's also a can of fuel.
Evanston Air National Guard Base:
There's
multiple train carriages, each with a large supply of an item. One has
moldy oranges, another has cans of Pepsi, one is filled with Macbooks,
another filled with Nutella, one with Cup-a-noodles and the last with
RPgs. About 10-20 of them.
Nuclear Plant:
The nuclear plant is the dead center of the FAYZ's sphere barrier. You'll find a couple of SMGs, and a bunch of guard uniforms.
San Fransisco De Sales Island:
On
this island you'll find a small cruise ship, which has a helicopter on
it, and on the island itself there will be another helicopter. The
island has it's own generator, plus a large 3D cinema, a working
kitchen, all of the stuff you'll find in a celebrity's house, because it
belongs to two movie stars. Also, in the basement, there's a secret
passageway, where you'll find a small plant of marijuana (In book, don't
blame me.).
Though the celebrities had children, I will not allow you to start on the island, your character must go there themselves.
That's
pretty much all you'll need to know. Just remember your character's
don't know, and making some statement like "Bob decided to travel north,
then turn right, just because he was bored. He ended up at the Evanston
Air National Guard base, and randomly went and found a train with
nutella, so he had a feast" will not make me happy.
However, if you
do something like, "Bob went to the library, where he found a large map
of California. There, he found out about the islands to the north, and
looked at some books in the library to find out there was a celebrity
island on one of them" will be allowed.
Coyote:
The
mutation of the coyote is crazy. Their size increased to the size of a
wolf. They stopped fearing most animals and started hunting them.
However the craziest part of their mutation was their ability to speak
human tongue. They somehow learnt English, too. They obey the creature
that lurks at the bottom of the mine by bringing it humans with powers,
so the creature can use the powers for itself.
Snakes:
The
snakes developed strange leathery wings underneath them, however, they
can only glide. Their venom is shot at prey, and when the acidic venom
lands on skin, it lays eggs underneath the skin. From there, about a
week later, weird green bugs crawl out and feed on the body, whether
it's dead or alive.
Green bugs:
Once the green bugs grow into
adults, which are about 4 feet high, they start spreading the eggs.
(Yeah I don't get how snake venom becomes insects, it just does.)
Zekes:
Large
worms about 2 inches in diameter. They can sense prey. They have large
mouths, the inside being filled with sharp teeth. They have small
fin-like legs. They are territorial, and hang around farms and
agriculture. If any meat creature stand on their territory, they start
eating right through them with their sharp teeth, and using their legs
they can push through the flesh.
Seagulls:
The seagulls mutated into seagulls with large hawk-like talons instead of webbed feet.
Sea-bats:
Bats
that live in air-pockets in sea caves. They can swim through water.
They are blue, and can breathe underwater. Along with this they fly.
They are extremely horrible to eat, even though filled with nutrition,
however, the zekes like them and allow you to pass and collect food if
you throw sea-bats at them. (Your characters don't know this)
The next section your characters should know about.
Perdido Beach school:
The main school in Perdido Beach. Kindergarten - 12th grade. Only roughly 200-300 students.
Coates Acadamy:
A
boarding school. There has always been a weird rivalry between the
Coates kids and the kids in town. The Coates kids are from wealthy
families, and, although the school tried to disguise the fact, strange.
Coates was the place to send your kids when they became "difficult". The
school houses a variety of kids, from mentally disorded kids to
psychopaths. Most of the kids aren't mentally disabled, but have been
sent to CA for doing some kind of act that was pretty much illegal, or
their parents just didn't want them around. Coates and the school should
together house about 95% of the FAYZ inhabitants.
Town Plaza:
The
Town Plaza is surrounded by a bunch of small business shops, like
McDonalds, the hardware store, the nursery and the subway. Besides
this there's the Church, the Town Hall, and the Library. In the center
of Town Plaza is a fountain that almost never works. There are multiple
wooden benches in the town plaza.
National Park:
The National Park has loads of Camp Trailers. Your characters may find food, water, and fuel there.
Below are the images of the FAYZ, and the image of Perdido Beach itself.
Our current roster:
William "Will" Lu:
Name: William “Will” Liu
Age: 13
Appearance:
Let’s start with his face. The first thing most people notice about him
is that his face is very pale, as if he spends most of his time inside
reading, or on a computer, although it’s just because he doesn’t tan
easily. Once they get over that, they notice that he still has a bit of
baby fat on his face, giving it a very slightly rounded look. However,
through that, high cheekbones are noticeable. His nose is nothing
remarkable, just a snub nose, average size. He has full lips, and when
he smiles, healthy white teeth show through. His skin, while not
flawless, doesn’t have any large or very noticeable blemishes.
His
eyes are a different story. At first glance, they are just normal dark
brown eyes that most Asians have, with slightly thin eyebrows positioned
above them. Large, intelligent, and inquisitive when speaking to
someone, for all the world looking like he was completely interested in
what you’re saying. Look more closely and you’ll see that his eyes can
change from warm, curious, and innocent, to cold, calculating, and
unforgiving in an instant. In fact, when he does do this to unnerve
people who are annoying him, the change is so profound that some will
swear that his eyes would change from a dark chocolate brown to pure
black. This, of course, was dismissed as complete nonsense by everyone.
Moving
back from his eyes, his ears are larger than most, but not protruding.
And his hair is jet black, about an inch long on top of his head and cut
short at back. It falls naturally, and is usually messed up, random
bits sticking up. Think: Just rolled out of bed and forgot the use of a
comb, instead of: Purposefully does it.
Onwards to his body.
Again, very pale. He is short for his age, standing at 4’11”, this
annoys him at times, since he has to look up to most of his peers. He
has an average build, on the thin side, but not to the absurd point that
ribs show through. His arms show well defined muscles. Not bulging,
mind you, but definitely there. Because of his height, this has led more
than one person to underestimate his speed and strength, he could
easily catch up to most people if he was running at full tilt.
Finally,
his clothes. He doesn’t wear clothes with intricate designs or large
logos, instead going for uniform colors on his clothes, no neon colors
for him either. He prefers slightly looser shirts and usually wears
sweatpants. At the current moment, he is wearing a brown shirt with gray
sweat pants.
Personality: I suck at
describing personalities, so I’m just gonna say that he has a very
sarcastic sense of humour and can be cynical about things.
Starting Location: In school, bored out of his mind.
Power:
Shadow manipulation(I have a weird thing for this). This requires a bit
of explaining, as it has many uses. One of the more useful abilities is
that in pitch darkness, he can still “see”, and his strength and
stamina are greatly increased. This only works in near total darkness,
however.
When standing in a shadow, he can wrap himself in
darkness and blend into the background. Obviously this works better in
darker situations, and in bright light it is rudimentary at best,
downright see through at worst.
He can also manipulate any
shadow, as long as he has a line of sight or knows exactly where it is.
It does require him to use his hands. Doing this takes concentration,
and he himself may be vulnerable to surprise attacks. Along with this,
it’s harder for him to control shadows that are not his own. These
shadows can be light and gaseous, thick and fluid, or hard and solid,
depending on what he wants them to be. This is extremely versatile,
especially when he uses them for strength related tasks - such as
slinging bricks, or in severe circumstances, cars, around - the more
disconnected he is from himself, the lesser the strain is.
When
using shadows that are not his own, he must use his hands. However,
with his own shadow, he does not. This does ironically make him need a
light source to use his own shadow. And, while using other shadows calls
for ludicrous amounts of brain power, he can use his own shadow
completely instinctively. But when he does this, he feels the full brunt
of what the shadow is doing, leading to a potential danger: if he were
to strain himself too much, he could die of exhaustion. ALong with that,
he can actually use his own shadow to augment his personal strength,
just in case.
Being an unnatural substance, his shadows are pretty much immune to everything except very bright light.
Backstory:
William, an only child, lived what would be called a normal life. He
went to school, made friends, exercised daily, ate healthy, what most
people do. One of the most defining features that made him stand out was
his intelligence. He was clearly smarter than most, if not all, of his
classmates, being able to grasp new subject much more quickly, and was
able to remember more information than the average 13 year old. There
were, of course, the few stupid people that decided to try to pick on
him, as there are in every school. He put an end to that when he punched
someone hard enough to give them a bloody nose, earning himself his
first, and only, suspension. His reasoning at the time was that only
physical action would work against them. All in all, life was about as
normal as could be for him. Until he discovered his power.
It
was quite by accident, and was with no warning. He had been fooling
around, pretending he had superpowers, because he was weird that way,
when he tripped and nearly slammed into a the ground. His shadow had
risen and caught him, before righting hima depositing him on the ground.
He barely got home before falling to sleep almost instantly, completely
exhausted.
Experimenting a bit, he figured out how to control it to a degree, and has been practicing ever since.
Suggestions: Not yet.

adults, which are about 4 feet high, they start spreading the eggs.
Our current roster:
William "Will" Lu:
Age: 13
