We consider a post to be a necropost (or necrobump) if a thread which hasn't been posted to in more than 30 days is revived with a post that doesn't have enough discussion value to justify reviving the thread. Generally, the older the inactive thread being revived, the more significant the discussion value of the reviving post needs to be in order for it to be allowed.
In your particular case, someone asked a question about 5 years ago, and your reviving post was most likely considered a necropost (or bump) because you were merely asking if anyone had an answer to the question. That type of post is considered a bump since it has no discussion value -- it is merely reviving a thread essentially to make it visible again for other people to see.
Is that necro-posting warning automated? I just received a warning that seems illogical and contrary to common forum etiquette.
