This Sticky will contain every known 1.8 bug, glitch, and issue as we are made aware of them! We ask all discussion of bugs be kept in this thread, so we can provide the best response to Mojang to fix them!
Please utilize the application below to post a new bug not listed here, or provide further information on a known bug:
Bug: Left-Shift clicking an item while inside a full chest, will cause minecraft to crash and revert to a time before the action was performed. This also holds true for Dispensers. It also seems to affect shift-clicking items out of the hotbar into inventory.
Cause: Shift-click placing items into a Chest.
Solution: Do not attempt to shift-click place items into a full chest.
Bug: Water does not flow into Ravines, and some natural areas without being 'updated' by placing a block nearby. Also sometimes forms abnormal, underwater pockets of air.
Cause: Generation issue.
Solution: Placing a place in the water's edge - it will begin to flow naturally.
Bug: Adding a server to the client server list will cause a null.point exception, yet will add the server, and future server additions do not cause this issue.
Cause: Adding a SMP server to your list for the first time.
Solution: Add a server, crash, it should not occur again.
Bug: When a world is created, terrain will begin to load, then go to a black screen. It also occurs when loading an old world of 1.7, the prereleases, as well as on SMP servers of all versions too.
Bug: Extreme Chest dysfunction on SMP when upgraded - Chests have changed the way they face, most are 'black', some are facing backwards, and some are even turned so half a large chest is stuck inside a wall!
Bug: Mac user issue - all animals, water splashes, sky, inventory screen (and all other screens like that) all are completely white and say missing textures.
Bug: Possible lag generation issue involving Sheep. When one looks away from newly generating chunks with a Sheep in your sight, it causes a fairly massive drop in FPS.
Cause: ...Evil sheep?
Solution: Really none, since you can't control animal spawns.
Bug: on vanilla SMP 1.8 servers, users with capitals in their names, have their names in the op list turned to lower case, making them unable to utilize their op powers as their names do not match.
Bug: Fog glitch - if you turn fog down to the lowest setting, Enderman and spiders appear as a bright white, where Zombies and other mobs properly 'fade' into the fog.
Bug: If you log into a SMP server, while it's raining, and fall into the water during spawn, you will surface and see only blue everywhere, and have to disconnect. Issue is not fixed after repeated relogs.
Bug: The ability to see through chunks and walls when you are at a certain angle. What angle is unknown, but there is multiple reports/screenshots of this.
- Animals not despawning, likely a part of the persistent animal spawn code meant for breeding, that was pulled late into 1.8 development and scheduled for release in 1.9.
- Shift+click creating maximum items available rather then 1 at a time. (May be a feature that is changed though).
- Endermen ceasing aggression when holding a Enderpearl.
- Hitting 'F' not working. Hold f3, then hit F to toggle fog.
- f3 not showing mob numbers.
Please keep things civil, guys. Spamming and off topic posts will be removed - this thread is to help gather information on 1.8 bugs and issues, diagnose their cause, and send useful information to Mojang to help get these bugs smashed quick so we can have a better 1.8! :biggrin.gif:
Hello this is Karlamonster, i have a laptop that i play minecraft on, i could not play the prerelease because it was too laggy so i waited to get the actual update. i put it on a fresh new minecraft for the 1.8 update, increased my java priority and affinity, put my map on smooth lighting off map tiny performance to max fps, bobbing off, and i can no longer play minecraft because the lag is so bad i'm sad but hopefully you can fix this problem it is just laptop though
Please fill out the bug report form. I am linking all such valuable information to it, so we can further help track down if it's a hardware issue, operating system issue, and more details to help Mojang, hopefully track down and nail these bugs quicker. :smile.gif:
Version of Minecraft: 1.8 (Pre-release and Release)
SSP or SMP: Either Your Computer Specs and Operating System: Windows 7 (64-bit), 4GB Ram, Java (1.6 Update 27 64-bit), Graphics Nvidia GTX 560 Ti (Latest Driver 280.26 (64-bit) Also tried with guru3d.com 285.27 (64-bit)). Can you repeat this bug: Yes What issues does the bug Cause: Tearing/Discolored textures. Corners/Sides of blocks do one of several things: Tear across the screen, turn black/pink or transparent. Eventually this seems to hose up my graphics altogether, causing other applications to act up as well (Example: Firefox, mouseovers act funny and videos such as YouTube turn black and cannot be viewed). This requires a reboot to correct. I have tried uninstalling Java and my Nvidia Drivers (Along with a complete clean install of minecraft) Specific conditions it occurs in if applicable: During game play 1.8 Creative and Survival Mode, SSP and SMP. Changing Video settings, such as render distance and OpenGL Settings correct the current glitches on screen, but they always return.
Version of Minecraft: 1.8 as most recently released.
SSP or SMP: SSP
Your Computer Specs and Operating System: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU @ 2.80 GHz ; 3 GB Usable RAM ; 32-bit Windows 7
Can you repeat this bug: Yes. Happens every time.
What issues does the bug Cause:
Minecraft instantly crashes every time I try to change the sound settings. Both music and sound were at 0 when I downloaded the update, and changing them is not possible.
I even tried to change the sound in the AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\options.txt file, and it crashes even before loading minecraft that way.
I'd like to play with sound. :<
Specific conditions it occurs in if applicable:
Only when I attempt to change sound so far.

I was getting a similar problem. I had installed optifine previously, I had to delete the options.txt file in my /appdata/roaming/.minecraft directory.
Cause: Playing and moving for 1-2 mins, it crashes everytime. I had no problem with the 1.7.3 version. My friend had me try the 1.8 pre-release beta and it seemed to crash everytime. I force updated back to 1.7.3 and played for hours with no problem. and now I have the same problem even with the official update. I have no idea why the memory runs out.
Bug: window panes appear halfway through the blocks, next to them, but if I place a window pane next to it, they appear in the correct section. I tested placing a window pane directly above the bottom one and it gave the same half pane.
Your Computer Specs and Operating System:AMD A8-3850 APU, 12Gb RAM, AMD Radeon HD 6700, Windows 7 64-bit
Can you repeat this bug: Might take a bit of exploring.
What issues does the bug Cause:Water generated with the chunk does not flow into valleys (I'm guessing). Seems to happen in the same way that floating sand and gravel don't move until you disturb something near them, as mining the blocks around the edge made the water flow.
Specific conditions it occurs in if applicable: Water being spawned next to a valley I would guess.

Please keep things civil, guys. Spamming and off topic posts will be removed - this thread is to help gather information on 1.8 bugs and issues, diagnose their cause, and send useful information to Mojang to help get these bugs smashed quick so we can have a better 1.8! :biggrin.gif:
Cause: Hmmm, a bug I suppose?
Please try to be more specific if possible. World version, if it's only the 'spawn' map, etc etc.
Ty to the other posters - updating now. :smile.gif:
I have this exact same problem and it is very annoying. Wish it would've been solved in the full release of 1.8 but I guess not.

What issues does the bug Cause: Tearing/Discolored textures. I have tried uninstalling Java and my Nvidia Drivers (Along with a complete clean install of minecraft)
Specific conditions it occurs in if applicable: During game play 1.8 Creative and Survival Mode, SSP and SMP. Changing Video settings, such as render distance and OpenGL Settings correct the current glitches on screen, but they always return.
