- Glass Panes look graphically better than Glass.
- When an Iron Bar or a Glass Pane is placed, it looks like an x. It should be similar to a fence since it shares the same characteristics as it. Possibly giving us the ability to have metal and glass poles.
Melons & Pumpkins
- Melon Slices look like watermelon slices and come from a yellow melon, rather than a green melon as it's shown.
- All pumpkins still have carved faces.
- The Melon's & Pumpkin's stem doesn't extend past the one block they started from. Instead they grow upward and then tilt to a block next to them which then generates the fruit.
- We got Melons instead of watermelons.
- We're able to craft 9 melon slices into a melon.
Table
- Tables are not a craftable block and cannot even be used to hold cakes. In addition, anything bigger than a 1x1 table will have spaces inbetween them.
- Breaking doors will make the door item drop.
- You have to drag and drop to delete items.
- Unable to control time to its fullest extent.
Animations
- No sprint animation.
- No fly animation for creative mode.
Huge Mushrooms
- The huge brown mushroom could look better, it's too flat.
- Huge mushrooms made mushrooms way too easy to get, possibly make a different way to grow them or harder way to get them. (renadi)
Animals
- Hitting an animal with an egg sends them fleeing, gets annoying when you're farming chickens. Would be nice if there was a different and more appropriate way to hatch eggs.
Vines
- They can grow horizontally.
- Grow continuously, no limit.
General
- The game actually lags for me now.
- Many content was released unfinished
- Server list only shows servers that you've manually added.
- Able to spawn in water still, problematic with the new Ocean Biome.
Let me know what you dislike and I might add it to the list if I agree.
By the way, this is not a rant, just my dislikes of patch 1.8. Never did I say that I was going to quit minecraft or hate the game in any way. Only foolish people put words in someone's mouth.
I'll give you the "glass panes look like an X" thing... but, did you just say you disliked the term "Melon" instead of "Watermelon"? It's kind of the same thing?
Also non Jack-O-Lantern pumpkins have been pre-carved since before 1.8. There are numerous texture packs that make it so they don't have a face unless you craft a Lantern from them though.

my only problems are that the Iron bars have no purpose besides making a different looking window. they should allow you to run water/lava or gravel/sand through them and let you shoot arrows through the them.

Correct, a watermelon is a melon, but a melon is not always a watermelon. Our melons ingame are clearly not watermelons since they have a yellow outerlayer, but once broken they yield watermelon slices because they are red on the inside and have a green outerlayer. It doesn't make any sense...

Ah. I'm no botanist so I had no idea. I know "melon" is a category of fruit but I didn't think there was much difference. To be honest I just laughed at the new Minecraft melons and thought they were cute like the square Japanese watermelons. :tongue.gif:

Clearly is was made slightly more yellow to avoid it looking too much like a cactus. True the melon item needs a slightly less green outer rind. but the red insides are a non-issue. Dark green melons can also have yellow interiors as can bolder yellow striped melons have red insides.
Graphical preference is even more moot as how easy and common it is to install texture packs. Unlike Mods for hardcoded changes.
Almost all melons take on a yellow exterior at some point in their growth, even watermelons. Buy an organic watermelom, or at least go look at one, and you are likely to see they are more yellowgreen than bright green. Also I don't understand how glass panes looking better than glass is a dislike..... They can't be gotten rid of because you can't make diagonal/curves with the panes..
OMG my melon is slightly yellow and watermelons are supposed to be green!!! .I'm not playing minecraft anymore because of this MAJOR in-game flaw that makes Minecraft unplayable....
I dislike the random splotches of dirt, clay, sand, and gravel that make up ocean bottoms. It should be mostly sand, with patches of gravel and the occasional rocky outcrop.
I also dislike the lack of animals on islands and how fast the beach around islands drop off. It should be much smoother for about 5-10 more blocks.
Other than that, I'm pleased.

Um, my watermelons are green. Looks just like a watermelon to me. It's not a solid dark green, but it's definitely a green melon.
I like hunger system, but i don't like how it only heals us when we're at full hunger bar. if anything, i think the hunger bar should be ratio to how fast we heal up instead. still checking some of the other stuff out.
Off-Topic: I love how we can finally keep a list of all our favorite minecraft server!

Where in his post did the OP say he was going to stop playing Minecraft over the color and botanical realism of a plant? He did not. He stated the coloration is incorrect for the species given in the game, and that there's a mismatch between the tiles. The OP is clearly a plant enthusiast or otherwise knows a lot about that. It would be the same as me getting upset about something like an alligator/crocodile mismatch if there were such mobs in the game.
(Also I realize given the highly-sarcastic nature of these forums my post might come off as haughty and sarcastic. That isn't my intent.)
BTW: Glass seems useless to me, now we have glass panes. For what do I/you need common glass, if you can have glass panes? (Besides, that you need glass to craft glass panes.)
IMO, I think it would be cool to be able to craft Tempered Glass out of Glass or Glass Panes, which could then be used to craft armor and weaponry with.

you are forgetting it's use as sky lights :biggrin.gif: since glass panes just look like total **** if you try to make them into a sky light, I tried :c, ssssssssoooooo unless that's a bug and Notch fixes it still need normal glass if you want a sky light or live underground and want a roof window(it's a damn skylight anyway at that point)

Actually, they don't get a yellow exterior, they might have a yellowish green exterior, but they're never purely yellow. They almost always have bits of green on it and it's a very dark and highly noticeable green unlike the melons we have. I've yet to see an aging watermelon that had a complete yellow exterior. Even if you were right, why would Notch at the same time label watermelons, melons?
We didn't ask for melons, we asked for watermelons. So I don't even see how this suggestion was even implemented.
Now maybe that might be a little too much green, but it's better than not having any green at all. Possibly a having little bit of yellow would cut the confusion between a watermelon and cactus. But sorry to say, our melons are yellow.
I agree with most of what you said UltimateTobi except for this part

They are still great for making glass walls, like for holding back lava or water, but still seeing it. They are great for when you want to stand/walk on glass.
I thought the same thing at first. "Why are there still blocks?" I'm glad there are. Different uses, different needs.
