Wait for 1.8.1 the update got released today and its already broken for half the people...a bunch of bugs (just check out the official bug thread..) crashes left and right for various reasons..for some people the game tries to load 500+ chunks when they enter a game and some people just get an out of memory crash..Seriously your best shot is to wait for an update of this update. 1.8 is like a world of warcraft content patch. It adds a lot of stuff but it breaks the damn game for days.

I'm actually playing minecraft on my gaming Pc windows 7 pro 64 bits, gtx580, 8gb ram DDR3 with 8 3.40 ghz i7's processors...and the game dares crash and give me an 'out of memory' report :sleep.gif:" I checked and the game kicks in at 3gb ram usage on launch and it just lags like hell, then the crash occurs after like 35 seconds of game. Good thing i kept a copy of my 1.7 minecraft folder so I can still play the 1.7 until 1.8 gets a major fix.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate, and my Java platform keeps crashing. I can get into game, load up a map, wait about a minute, and then it comes up with a window that Java Platform isn't functioning, and crashes the whole game. I tried reinstalling Java, but it still doesn't work.
