No you idiot. The interviewer asked if there would be any survival staying current state. So survival will get a complete revamp. And besides, he said he doesn't think so, it's not a certain answer.
Possibly hiding something or Notch hasn't told him anything.

Maybe that's what he meant to ask, but the use of "any" broadens the subject from "as it exists currently" to "any form" which in addition to including "as it exists currently" includes all other forms it can take as "Survival" mode. This is a perfectly valid way to interpret the sentence. I don't actually think "Adventure" mode is going to be that radically changed but there's a heavy implication here that when you start up Minecraft, "Survival" is not going to be the name of any mode available to you.
I think it amounts to some new features and a name change, which means since it won't be called "survival", it won't be "survival".
Am I the only one getting tired of people assuming they know what'll be in the update? Sure, Mojang has hinted at some stuff, and confirmed some stuff (We know there'll be endermen, we know there'll be melons, etc,) but there's a lot of unconfirmed stuff that people keep arguing about. I'm tired of people telling other people they're wrong about stuff that hasn't been bluntly confirmed or denied.
Hopefully, when Notch sees this topic, he might choose to keep survival mode!
Please vote.
Any, as in ANY survival at all. ANY.
EDIT: If he just meant survival is changing then the interviewee responded poorly to a poorly worded question.

Also,
good, very good
So, let put this straight.
What modes in 1.8 ?
I've heard of adventure, creative... and now Survival is staying.
So Survival and adventure are one only mode ? That's what I understood actually.
So advenbture mode is a new mode ? apart from survival ?
We'll keep it simple.
There will be one mode. The one where you break blocks and craft stuff and build. There will be NPCs and mushrooms and enderman and stuff.
If you make a multiplayer server, the admin of the server gets limited fly and block spawning abilities.
That is all.
Survival mode, or whatever its name is, is just going to be improved.
Am I right ?
Yes, the "creative mode" that is confusing everyone is that admins of servers get limited creative abilities (block spawning, fly, etc)
1.8 is adventure update NOT adventure mode
