I just went sailing and noticed the oceans have been corrected. (Previously the Ocean floors were all clearly viewable)
From a cursory observation they are now nicely done. Dark, but you can sense more of the terrain below as you go sailing along. I like it.
But i will add this thought........ having sailed a nice patch of water under the last snapshot - i now have a neat little Ocean Biome. O not really but it is DISTINCTLY different when i go there. A lot like visiting a different biome. I think i will like this if i get to keep it. It makes a great area to harvest clay

Well when i used the last snapshot... 7? .. My ocean floors on new chunks had a lighting glitch which made them WAY visable.
I wonder now if some people might install that version just to get the glitch. It is an awesome view to sail the seas and to see all that is below as you cruise along.

I am starting to Hope that i am able to retain this section of ocean with the clarity of a swimming pool. I love seeing thru the water and watching the squids swim around.
? I wonder if i will be able to build a sub marine base or if it will muck it up....hmmm...
>runs off to test.Am I the only one who enjoys the result of this??

It's pretty likely that any building done down there will update the lighting, and remove the water's clearness.

PICS PLEASE!!!! I don't have the new snapshot because i don't like screwing around with files...afraid ill mess something up or corrupt my worlds or something so i want pics so i can see this...
Guys, come on now. What the OP is saying, is that the part of their ocean they explored in snapshot 7, still lacks opacity in snapshot 8, while the rest of the ocean has been corrected. So the opaque and sheer sections of their ocean look like different "ocean biomes".
Here are some screenshots of my minecraft world and the result of using the last snapshot 07 and now the latest 8.
I enjoy playing without mods at this point, so to have this special section generated within my vanilla world has a special appeal to me. I am starting to wonder if a person so inclined could " build up" a unique minecraft world by layering the special qualities of differing versions. Well here you go if you are interested:
1. The sheer joy of the ocean at sunrise.
2. Nice far shot thru a large section of CLEARED ocean. I like the odd formations especially. Too bad i cant build in it.
3. "The Aquarium"

Absolutely! My main world is like a tree trunk; The center was made by beta 1.1, and beyond that, it's got rings of various other generator versions, all the way up to 12w06a. This world won't go anvil until everything's a little more finalized but I have a feeling it won't be a long wait. I'm very protective over my world, and it only gets introduced to stable generators; b1.8 and the b1.9 prereleases were totally skipped here, due to their "experimental" nature.
Personally, I found 12w07's clear water to be ugly, but I totally understand your desire to keep it. It wasn't so much the unnatural visibility that turned me off to it, but the black splotches scattered around. The top 3-4 levels of water acted normally, darkening necessary blocks, but then it went totally clear further down, leaving black-topped blocks in shallow areas, and murky-looking shorelines. I'm just not a fan of lighting glitches in general. :tongue.gif:

If you want the water to be more transparent, just install optifine and enable clear water. :wink.gif:
Ill work on some screen shot examples.

That was a common glitch in 12w07a/b.
