I'm sure I'm not the only one who misses Minecraft Indev and Minecraft Alpha. :sad.gif:
Just thinking of how different it was and how fun it was being a noobie makes me sad
I wish I could go back to those days, anyone else?
Why do people care, the game does everything indev and alpha did, just don't use the new features if you don't like them.Something tells me your alpha picture isn't from alpha.
Fun times, i wish i could wipe my mc memory so i could experience it all over again. This is the type of game where being new actually helps contribute to the fun!
Back in Alpha, I built a house. I gathered diamonds. And then there was nothing to do. These updates are great endgame (?) content additions, and I am tired of hearing people like OP get nostalgic over a game where there was no content.
Indev? That's the old days? I thought this was going to be about Minecraft classic. Only one version of the game, having to play the game through a browser, and everyone on the servers building swastikas everywhere. Now THAT is the good old days.
I remember, back in the day all we had was a single pixel. And we loved it! Since then, people have been making games out of that pixel! Then we had, like, 8 of them! Making shapes! omg omg, my pixel was so ruined, all you game people ruined my lief, I miss pixel!
Indev was a beta of a beta of a beta. It was a "heres an incomplete mess to give you an idea of some of the things we're gonna have. Does this look like a good idea?" Those who look back to these versions and think thats the whole freaking game need to get their heads on straight. It was incomplete, and if it were released as-is, only a few of you early adopters would still be playing it now.

I can't tell you how much I agree.
I think people are mixing the feeling of being all new, and having that mysterious feeling in your chest about what happens next, with the actual version of the game. If you joined in Beta and didn't know anything, that would be the good old days.
I remember I used to hide out in my house overnight on peaceful, because I didn't know that if I died I could just respawn. I thought there were evil spirit thingies, but it was just ambience...

My Indev days
Alpha the best time of all
You can tell it is by the lighting and the cobblestone texture.
