I recently got a new computer, and have a EVGA GTX 580 graphics card. I tried overclocking today, using some settings from a review. Was a stable overclock, no issues with artifacts. However, starting a stress test today, I heard a strange noise, a high pitched whirr/tone. I have a hard time believing it's the fan, as it began the instant I started the test, giving no time for the fan to temp (and fan) to go up. I stopped the stress test, and tried a few other ones, changing the clock speed of the card. The tone of the noise changes with the core clock of the graphics card. Can anyone tell me if this is normal or if I have a problem, and if there is a fix for it.
Yes it's normal. Just caps etc. electrical parts making some noises. It's normal with some particular models or with just some cards in general. My 9600GT makes the same noise when benchmarking with 3dmark or furmark etc. The weird thing is that it makes the noise also in minecraft, but not in any other game :wink.gif:
Ok, thanks.
