I've been researching the different genres of art on wikipedia, and many of them seem quite interesting (realism and romanticism are my two favorites). Almost any art that I've seen is placeable into the categories. Keyword: almost. Of course there are the one-off wacky sculptures that push the boundaries of good taste, but there has been a style that I've never understood. I've seen it repeated many times through cartoons and games, but I've never found the name.
This art style can be seen in shows such as Skyland and Oban: Star Racers, and also in Atlantis: Milo's Return. It's somewhere in that area, and for the life of me I can't figure out what it is. It's not anime, that much I know- it's something else. It utilizes bold colors and clean shapes, if the subject is a textile or poster (in the case that I saw, a bright blue shirt). It is contrasted by earthy tones and grays in the background. It also combines high technology with slightly rustic architecture, and all images of actual objects such as buildings, nature and people are highly detailed and realistic.
That's the best that I can get you guys. Art gurus, take it away!

If you removed the awkward bloom and looked at the left character's shirt, you can see it.
