ok, so any possible solution?
i really wanna get started learning this, but i dont get why it wont find my stuff...
the forge source, i should just unpack the forge folder in the root, making a new folder automatically, right?
or should i unpack the content in the root?
also, does it matter where eclipse is unpacked/installed? i tried once unpacking it inside the eclipse folder in mcp, and once on a separate folder, neither worked...
Just unpack the folder to the MCP root, so you have a folder called "forge" in the MCP root, and the eclipse folder in MCP is what you set your workspace as.
Okay good to know
I am not that good at modding,
so by looking at different tutorials by different authors and by trying out myself: edit base file... (for testing purposes ofc) I hope to improve
Whenever your editing base classes for testing purposes, always, ALWAYS remove the code from wherever you added it. Also if you really need a feature added to a base class, and Forge edits the class, you could always do a Pull Request for Forge.

well yeah, that's how ive got it set up...
so you have no clue about what's wrong?
In all honesty I have no idea.... does anything strange happen at all when you decompile and install Forge? Otherwise you may need to go back and completely reinstall Java, MCP, Forge. Also the client may be what's causing the issues, as in the client you copy the bin and resources folders from.

Like I said: Testing Purposes = Reinstall MCP and Forge... afterwards, just like testing out what the different codes do...
But yeah thanks for advice
Fairly new to MC in general and I've been having a blast in creative mode. Now I've been experimenting with texture modding.
I have a question about texture modding - figured it may have to be done with a new block.
On a texture png - let's say you have a texture that's 80px wide by 80px high. (or 5blocks x 5blocks).
Is there a way that you can assign all 25 texture blocks to one block and in game it'll fill out the texture depending on how many of that block are connected?
I cannot place the "common" and "client" packages into my "YOURNAME.YOURMODNAME" package so when I use the code from tutorial 3, I get an error at
package YOURNAME.YOURMODNAME.common;
Strange, so your right clicking on the common package when you created it, then selected to make a new package, the remove the common at the end and replaced that with client?

I don't understand you question, can you please explain again?

Ok, I figured out the last issue, but now I'm getting an error on the last step of Tut. 4 where I add the @SidedProxy to my mod file. The error says:
-SidedProxy cannot be resolved to a type.
-The attribute clientSide is undefined for the annotation type SidedProxy
-The attribute serverSide is undefined for the annotation type SidedProxy
how about a tutorial on how to modify a mob. what i want to do is make chickens randomly drop 0-2 feathers like the drop eggs. that way you can farm feathers like you can eggs.
also a tut on how to make custom village buildings that will generate when the village does.

Modifying a mob drop that occurs at random time I don't think is possible without base edits, however I do know that Forge does add a way to hook into village generation, I have yet to use this however.

Sigh, right click on common folder, hover over "New", click package.....
No I don't mean this. Each time I want to make a common and client package in the Yourname.Yourmodname package. After I right clicked and made a new package. The package client bounced up to the top of the folder and not in the Yourname.Yourmodname package.

I don't think so. How do I do that? I don't remember it being in the tutorial.

I know exactly what's going on, when you make a new package, you should see that it already puts Yourname.Yourmodname in there, but its highlighted, so when before you go to type something in, hit the right arrow key twice so that it is right at the end.

So do I put multiple items into 1 mod class file and name it *** mod or create multiple class files but naming it to the same *** name?Oh wait I solved the problem, also a new problem where's the client package?
You have to make the packages...

Have you imported the SidedProxy annotation?

Does anything pop up when installing Forge? Like "# out of # hunks failed..." or similiar error?

Ctrl + Shift + O, it was in the tutorial, you just need to read it.
On it!
Doesn't seem to have any errors in the install log.
Tell me the exact steps your taking, it seems as if your leaving something out.
